             Ann Garland Sears

GLOUCESTER - Ann Garland Sears, 73, passed away on the afternoon of Monday, July 22nd, 2019, surrounded by her loved ones. As a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Ann was loved by many and will remain in our hearts as we cherish the memories of our time with her.

Ann was born in Newport News, VA, on October 12th, 1945, where she spent the majority of her life. She attended and graduated Newport News High School, class of 1963.

Ann’s kind-hearted nature led her to a career in the medical field where she never tired of helping others. She retired from Riverside Health System and was fondly remembered for the time she spent at Hampton Roads Eye Associates and would often speak of the long-lasting friendships she made there.

Hope, Dean, and Beth,
I was saddened to hear of your mom's passing. I enjoyed the time we worked together at Suburban Clinic. I always asked how she was when visiting the eye doctor where she worked.
She always had a smile on her face.
She touched many by always trying to help others.
She may have left our physical world but we have gained a new guardian angel.

Ann was one of the prettiest girls in high school. We enjoyed many fun times together during school, after school, and especially at Buckroe Beach, and Virginia Beach with our sorority, PLK. My deepest sympathy to her children, brother, and their families.

Come, Ye Disconsolate

Words by Thomas Moore; alt. by Thomas Hastings
Music by Samuel Webbe

Come, ye disconsolate, where'er ye languish.
Come to the mercy seat, fervently kneel.
Here bring your wounded hearts, here tell your anguish;
Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.

Joy of the desolate, light of the straying,
Hope of the penitent, fadeless and pure!
Here speaks the Comforter, tenderly saying,
"Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot cure."

Here see the bread of life; waters flowing
Forth from the throne of God, pure from above.
Come to the feast of love; come, ever knowing
Earth has no sorrow but heaven can remove.
