Sealed with a Kiss

“A kiss seals two souls for a moment in time.”

- Levende Waters

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Mmmm - this golden oldie makes me want to dance...  Actually, it reminds me of all those great summer dances we had:

BONUS - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIkUiD8N81k - Sealed with a Kiss - Brian Hyland

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealed_with_a_Kiss:

"Sealed with a Kiss" is the title of a song written by Peter Udell and Gary Geld. It was first recorded by The Four Voices in 1960 as a single, but their recording was not a hit.

In 1962, Brian Hyland, who often performed Udell and Geld's material, covered the song. Hyland's single was a hit, reaching #3 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart. When re-released in 1975, Hyland's recording charted in the UK at # 7. Hyland also recorded a version in German.

Gary Lewis and the Playboys released a single in 1968. Their cover version was a Billboard #19 hit and placed high on the Hot 100.

A third Top 40 Hot 100 version came in 1972, when Bobby Vinton released a single, again reaching #19 in the Billboard singles charts. This version also placed high on Billboard's adult contemporary chart. Bobby Vinton's recording was used in both the trailer and end credits of the 2007 film All the Boys Love Mandy Lane...

I don't Know what has HAPPENED...I do not Receive News Letters any MORE... Please add me AGAIN....Hope You are Feeling BETTER...Take Care...

Typhoons Forever... Al Farber..

Thanks so much for checking, Alan!  How I've missed your happy pict-o-grams!

What happened?!? To quote a favorite verse of scripture:

"An enemy hath done this." - Matthew 13:28

You are still on my mailing list, and the latest news is available on the 2014 NNHS Newsletters link, but beginning April 1, some silly anti-spam measures suddenly and without warning left me unable to initiate any emails.

   "Message rejected due to DMARC."

On very rare occasions I am able to reply to those I receive. I may at last have figured out a way around this, so stay tuned, spread the word, and look here to see what you've been missing for the last seventeen weeks:

     http://www.nnhs65.com/NNHS-Newsletters-2014.html

As for my feeling better, I regret to report I do not, not really. That goofy infection around my lungs returned again at the same time it appeared last time. Aside from the annoying coughing and hacking, it comes up into my throat and clogs my singing voice, making me sound like, oh, I dunno, an old lady or something. The stupid pain from the near total lack of calcium in my knees is constant, excruciating, and limiting, causing me to appear like a total doofus. It responds rather well to Celebrex, but that would cost me $496.00 a month (which isn't happening). My doctor keeps trying to interest me in double knee replacement surgery, but I've explained to him repeatedly that the resulting scars would greatly interfere with my career as an exotic dancer, so there ya go.

In short (and I am indeed shorter than I even was before), these are ridiculous pride issues, and I'm grateful to be alive, if not kicking!

From My #2 Son, Brent Harty (Hillsboro HS, IL - '90) of LA - 07/25/14 - "Shreveport, LA":

We stopped in Shreveport, LA at the site where my 3rd Great-grandfather, Joseph G. Lewis, surrendered under GEN Kirby Smith on 07 JUN 1865. There is a very nice monument erected in 1905 to the memory of all the great American Soldiers who fought to defend their family, home and Country...

WOWZERS! That must have been a very emotional experience for y'all, Brent! Thank you so much for these images!

     From Me ('65) of NC - 07/27/14 - "Don't Give Up":

From My Husband, Paul Harty (Bardolph HS, IL - '61) of NC - 07/22/14 - "Maxine (#6 in a series of 11)":

     Thanks, Dools!

BONUS KISS CROCHET PATTERN:

http://www.crochetspot.com/crochet-pattern-kiss-me-bag/ - Claire Ortega's Kiss Me Bag - "Tote this little bag along on a quick errand, or a date! Using sparkly yarn makes this great for formal events, too. Small yet sturdy, it can accommodate your essentials: wallet, cellphone and keys. I named the bag “Kiss Me” because the handle looks like shapely lips, adding visual interest and lending a natural grip for your hands."

BONUS SEALED WITH A KISS RECIPES:

http://spoonful.com/recipes/peanut-butter-cookies-sealed-kiss - Peanut Butter Cookies Sealed with a Kiss - "Get in the holiday spirit, with these peanut butter and chocolate cookies."

http://www.cakespy.com/blog/2011/5/18/sealed-with-a-kiss-potato-kisses-recipe.html - Sealed with a Kiss: Potato Kisses Recipe - "You may not know this, but during the Great Depression, when many ingredients were scarce, an unexpected ingredient had a bit of a heyday in the world of confectionery: the Potato!..."

http://www.allthingsthrifty.com/2012/11/brownie-cookie-recipe-sealed-with-kiss.html - Brownie Cookie Recipe {sealed with a KISS} - "I made six dozen of these cookies last night for a church event. They were really easy and delicious..."

FINALLY:

From www.ajokeaday.com - 07/27/13:

A man got home, ran into his house, slammed the door and shouted, "Honey, I just won the lottery! Pack your bags!"

The wife said, "Great! What should I pack for? The ocean or the mountains?"

He said, "I don't care! Just be out by the end of the week!"

Sealed with a Kiss

Written by Gary Geld and Peter Udell, 1960

Recorded by
Brian Hyland (b. 12 Nov 1943), 1962

Though we've got to say good-bye
For the summer
Darling, I promise you this
I'll send you all my love
Everyday in a letter
Sealed with a kiss

CHORUS:
Yes it's gonna be cold, lonely summer
But I'll fill the emptiness
I'll send you all my dreams
Everyday in a letter
Sealed with a kiss

I'll see you in the sunlight
I'll hear your voice everywhere
I'll run to tenderly hold you
But, Darlin' you won't be there

I don't wanna say good-bye
For the summer
Knowing the love we'll miss
Let us make a pledge
To meet in September
And seal it with a kiss

(instrumental)

(CHORUS)
Sealed with a kiss
Sealed with a kiss
Sealed with a kiss
