Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
Today's theme comes to you at the suggestion of

Y'all be sure to
take a look at that page. How are we going to wish you a happy birthday
(or in the case of my coo-coo brain, forget to wish you a happy birthday) if we don't know when it is?!?
Thanks!
From Frank Saunders (Hampton HS - '64) of VA - 07/25/07 - "HHS 64":
If this is not of good enough quality I can pull out the big one and scan that. This one came from the annual of HHS 64
Thanks, Frank!

From My Niece, Shari, of VA - 07/26/07 - "Bank Account":
OUR BANK ACCOUNT
This is AWESOME....something we should all remember.
A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each
morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly,
even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today.
His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many
hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly
when told his room was ready.
As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of
his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window.
"I love it," he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been
presented with a new puppy.
"Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait."
"That doesn't have anything to do with it," he replied.
"Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or
not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged... it's how I arrange my
mind. I already decided to love it. It's a decision I make every morning when I
wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I
have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be
thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open,
I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away. Just for
this time in my life. Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what
you've put in. So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in
the bank account of memories! Thank you for your part in filling my Memory Bank.
I am still depositing."
Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.
..... Have a nice day, unless you already have other plans.
Thank you, Shari!

There have been many, many times when I may have.
disturbed you,
troubled you,
pestered you,
irritated you,
bugged you or got on your nerves with all the emails I send,
So today I just wanna tell you that...
I PLAN TO CONTINUE
Go
right ahead, Lady! I missed you while your computer was down!
From Sepi Dinwiddie Prichard ('58) of NC -
07/26/07 - "Carol--summer songs":
Carol
Sweetie, do the summer songs have to be songs from the sixties? Cause if they
don't, I have three so far that I can send you when I get home.
#1' Summertime' by Janis Joplin. #2 (60's) 'Boys of Summer' (not 60's) and 'Down Home Summertime Blues' by Norman Blake #3 this is blue grass-country and I have no idea when it was recorded. Reuben just mentioned a couple more, 'Under The Boardwalk', that one I don't have recorded but if you haven't used it yet I'm sure it would be easy to locate. Now he can't remember the second one he just mentioned, but I'm sure it will come to mind later.
Later: 'Walking on Sunshine' Katrina and the Waves, 'Summer Loving', from 'Grease', 'Up On The Roof', The Drifters, 'Schools Out', Alice Cooper (not my favorite) 'Hot Fun in the Summertime', Sly & The Family Stones', 'In The Summertime' Mungo Jerry, ' Margaritaville' J. Buffet, 'Saturday in the Park', Chicago, and 'Summer in the City', Lovin' Spoonful.
And one of my favorites,
'Sunshine Superman' by Donovan.
Hope this helps! Love from the Sacred soil of No. Va.
Sepi a.k.a. Mimi
WOWZERONI, Lady! Okay, the Mungo Jerry "In the Summertime", we already used:

Thanks, Sepi!
Stay tuned, and we'll see what we
can do!
From Jean Poole Burton ('64) of RI - 07/26/07 - "Just thought of another
one...":
How 'bout "I'll remember you...long after this endless
summer...is gone...love you always...love you always, etc. I am not sure of the
title...I think it was sung by the Lettermen or the Beach Boys!
Don't remember any more of the words...
It is a gorgeous day here. Love, Jeanb
From Jean Poole Burton ('64) of RI - 07/26/07 - "Found it...Don Ho sang it as
well as others...":
.....I'll Remember You She's Gone Again.....
I'll Remember You She's Gone Again
words & music by Kui Lee
I'll remember you
Long after this endless summer is gone
I'll be lonely, oh so lonely
Living only to remember you
I'll remember too
Your voice as soft as a warm summer breeze
Your sweet laughter mornings after
Every after I'll remember you
Chorus:
To your arms some day
I'll return to stay 'til then
I will remember too
Every bright star we made wishes upon
Love me always promise always
You'll remember too
Ummmm, okay, Jean thanks!
That one's not ringing any bells
with me at all.
Oh, DA-VID.......
From
Frank Saunders (Hampton HS - '64) of VA - 07/26/07:
I was perusing through
the website and saw a picture of
Bobby Turpin ('58 - of VA). I
usually see him out on the Noland Trail in the mornings when I go for my daily
run. Didn't know he attended NNHS, but there are
a lot of things I don't know, but can't think of them right now. Sorta like I
have never made a mistake; thought I had one time, but I was wrong???????
WILD GIGGLES!!! You've stumbled onto a fact which we find proven more and more frequently as time passes. Our lives here are connected and tangled and united by strings we couldn't possibly have imaged all those years ago.
Thanks for the
report!
From Gloria Woolard Price (Hampton
HS - '65) of FL - 07/26/07 - "Reply to
Dicky Dawes (NNHS/HHS - '62 - of VA)":
I thought I sent this reply to you, but it
wasn't in the newsletter.
Hi, Dicky........
You're talking about Adrian's band. Watson Mishoe was not Adrian's
brother. As far as I remember, Watson Mishoe did not play an instrument......he
sang the country songs. Remember, this was Kenny and the Klovers, the
Mishoe brothers' band. I know them because I go-go danced with them in 66/67. I
might be wrong about Adrian drumming with them, but Gary Church was the
rock and roll singer, and there was another Mishoe brother who played lead. I
don't know when they broke up.....I moved away in 69, but returned in 70 and
found out about Adrian's band at the Checkmate.
Gloria a' Go-Go
OOPS!
Sorry, Gloria!
From Chandler Nelms (Hampton HS - '63)
of MD to
Frank
Saunders (Hampton HS - '64) of VA - 07/26/07:
Frank (aka FA),
The men's store in Hilton Village that
you referred to was probably Beecroft and Bull,
owned by Moss Beecroft. It may be still there on Warwick Boulevard. I
know he also had one in VA Beach. I got to know Moss quite well through my job
at the Varsity Shop and I later sold him a car.
Chandler Nelms
Beecroft and Bull?!? That's definitely still there in Hilton Village, and Frank lives in Hilton now himself. I thought he was referring to a business which has closed sometime in the last forty-eleven years, but as you know, I live in a state of confusion most of the time myself.....
Thanks, Chandler Darlin'!
Say, that reminds me - Frank, would you refer to be called Frank or F.A.? I seem to be confused about that as well.....
From Sepi Dinwiddie Prichard ('58) of NC -
07/27/07 - "
Herb Hice
is 83?":
Dear Carol...
I am totally amazed that our
Favorite Marine,
Herb Hice (of MI), is really 83 years old! I've seen men a LOT younger that look
a whole lot OLDER!!! Herb, you still have that look on your face and in your
eyes of a Marine that has proudly served your God, (and mine) your country, your
family, and your fellow man! My guess is that you could still drop and show all
these younger guys how to really do a MANS' push-up, beginning with 25!!!
Amen
to ALL of that, Sepi! Thanks!
AS PROMISED - STILL NOT:

Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini
(Brian Hyland)
She was afraid to come out of the locker
She was as nervous as she could be
She was afraid to come out of the locker
She was afraid that somebody would see
One, two, three, four, tell the people what she wore
[ It was an itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka-dot bikini
That she wore for the first time today.
An itsy bitsy teentie weenie yellow polka-dot bikini ]
So in the locker she wanted to stay.
Two, three, four, stick around we'll tell you more
She was afraid to come out in the open
And so a blanket around she wore
She was afraid to come out in the open
And so she sat bundled up on the shore
Two, three, four, tell the people what she wore
[ repeat ]
So in the blanket she wanted to stay.
Two, three, four, stick around we'll tell you more
Now she is afraid to come out of the water
And I wonder what she's gonna do
Now she is afraid to come out of the water
And the poor little girl's turning blue
Two, three, four, tell the people what she wore
[ repeat ]
So in the water she wanted to stay.
From the locker to the blanket
From the blanket to the shore
From the shore to the water
Yes there isn't any more.
