HEALTH UPDATES:
From
Me
('65) of IL - 07/25/10 - "
Kaiya":
We heard back from our daughter-in-law,
They spent a total of over seven hours in two different hospital emergency rooms (okay, technically, one was more of an urgent care unit) waiting to be seen. The second one finally ran a strep throat test. Upon finding it to be negative, they told her her daughter was sick. Well, DUH! The good news is that her fever broke (for a while, anyway) at about the same time your prayers began. On Sunday Kaiya's appetite returned, and she rested much more comfortably. Kim was planning to take her to Springfield today where hopefully she will find better answers.
Thanks so much for your
prayers; they were very much appreciated by us all!
REUNION ALERTS:
From Dave Arnold
('65) of VA - 05/11/10 - "Class of 1965's 45-Year Reunion":
The NNHS Class of 1965 will hold its 45-Year Reunion on Friday and Saturday, October 15 and 16, 2010 - which is OPEN to all classes!
Friday
evening we will meet at R.J.'s Restaurant and Sports Bar. The only cost will be
what you choose to eat and drink. The company will be priceless.
Saturday
will be spent at Newport News Park. We've reserved a group shelter that can seat
150 people with sufficient cover to take care of any weather concerns. If you
made it to the 55th Birthday Party you'll recall it was held at the Park in one
of the smaller shelters. The facility we're using this time is a new addition
and will give us lots of flexibility to meet and reminisce. The cost of this
event is $15.00 per person through August 31, 2010. After that date the cost
will be $20.00 per person. The charge for Saturday will cover your food and
beverages.

- "Mailing List":
Hey, Barry!
I wondered why I hadn't heard from you in so long - welcome back!
I saw your
mail just as we were running out the door to help our oldest grandson celebrate
a big milestone in his life.
Andrew Harty (Collinsville HS, IL - '10) of IL
will turn 19 in two months, and is submitting his paper work to serve as a
full-time LDS missionary. We went to see his father,
my #1 Son,
Lewis Harty (Hillsboro HS, IL
- '89) of IL,
confer the Melchizedek Priesthood upon him and ordain him to the office of an
Elder.
I was spluttering over your Nauvoo reference to the extent that I didn't notice your note had been tied up somewhere in cyber-space for a whole week..... Then when we got home, it had disappeared altogether! (?!?) At great length I found it, and have you safely on my mailing list once more:

I decided to actually work on the site itself and do some long overdue scanning. As a result, these pages are either entirely new or newly fleshed-out with images:

http://www.nnhs65.com/faculty.html

Why, you may well wonder, did I
concentrate solely on the Class of 1967?? That's because
David Whitley ('67) of VA
graciously loaned me his 1967 Anchor back in the Fall of 2006 and it's
high time to return it to him!
Thanks again,
Gorgeous!
NOTE: I had planned to finish several more sections, but this is taking even longer (and making me even nutzier!) than I had anticipated, so I'll be working on this for the next few days.

Harlan Hott":
I would just like to take this time to thank
Coach Hott for beating Hampton High School our last high school team at NN.
He and Coach Laycock did a great job. Also, I had the privilege of
playing with Coach Hott and
Coach Charlie
Woollum on our WVEC Basketball team. You will never meet two better
coaches and men than Coach Hott and Coach Woollum. We love them very much
and God speed.
Thanks, Mickey, but
all I did was post it; the good Captain found it for us!

From Jerry Blanchard ('62) of VA - 07/25/10 - "RING OF FREEDOM":
I just got this e-mail and I feel everyone should see it.
I do not care what you think of
Ollie
North, personally, just listen to his speech and see if you can avoid a
tear, or the feeling of such pride in our servicemen and women that protect us
today.
A must See Video ... Ending is fabulous!
I am now passing this on for you to watch. It’s not enjoyable, it is riveting! When you are done pass it on too, I think it’s important... If you are a vet, I say, Welcome home, brother.

you so very much, Jerry!
FINALLY: |
It Might Be the Light Deep In the back woods, a hillbilly's wife went into labor in the middle of the night, and the doctor was called out to assist in the delivery. As there was no electricity, the doctor handed the father-to-be a lantern and said, "Here. You hold this high so I can see what I am doing."
Soon, a baby boy was brought into the world.
Sure enough, within minutes he had delivered a baby girl. "Hold that
lantern up, don't set it down there's another one!" said the doctor. |

The night is like a lovely tune,
beware my foolish heart!
How white the ever constant moon, take care, my foolish heart!
There's a line between love and fascination,
That's hard to see on an evening such as this,
For they give the very same sensation.
When you are lost in the passion of a kiss.
Your lips are much too close to mine, beware my foolish heart!
But should our eager lips combine, then let the fire start.
For this time it isn't fascination, or a dream that will fade and fall apart,
It's love this time, it's love, my foolish heart!
