07/24/04 - NNHS Newsletter - Simply the Best
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
Yesterday when I found H.P.'s message, I was concerned that I would be
distributing it to y'all too late to accomplish
that which needed to be done But I sent it off at abut 3:00 PM.
Within 45 minutes I received word that $1,000.00 had
been deposited into the Yevak's account. Almost simultaneously, I learned
that an anonymous donor had deposited
another $250.00 into that account. Both of the these donations were made
in cash, meaning that there would be no
waiting period; the money was available to them instantly.
Astonished and flabbergasted, I hastily sent word to H.P. Lucas, Dave Arnold,
and Ron Smith of what had been done,
and left a message on the Yevak's phone. Then though I was still
trembling, I feebly attempted to thank those individuals
for their extraordinary kindness in a time of critical emergency.
Here is one of the replies I received:
As you have so aptly reminded us from time to
time, we need to take care of each other.

At 5:46 PM I received this message from Dave Arnold:
Uhhh -
those of you who know me are well aware that I am rarely at a loss for words.
Shutting me up is the hard part.
But on this occasion, in the face of this much munificence, I was completely
speechless. Even after more than twenty-four
hours, I find it difficult to reflect on this without choking up, as I know that
more donations were forthcoming as well.
From
time to time I mention how proud I am to know y'all. Once again, I'm not
certain that I've been adequately able
to express this. Many of you I am honored to count among my closest
friends. Your incredible generosity is but one reason
I feel so privileged to share the association with you that I do. You are
amazing, wonderful, talented, beautiful people. You're
simply the best.
