REUNION ALERTS:
From Dave Arnold
('65) of VA - 05/11/10 - "Class of 1965's 45-Year Reunion":
The NNHS Class of 1965 will hold its 45-Year Reunion on Friday and Saturday, October 15 and 16, 2010 - which is OPEN to all classes!
Friday evening we will meet at R.J.'s Restaurant and Sports Bar. The only cost will be what you choose to eat and drink. The company will be priceless.
Saturday
will be spent at Newport News Park. We've reserved a group shelter that can seat
150 people with sufficient cover to take care of any weather concerns. If you
made it to the 55th Birthday Party you'll recall it was held at the Park in one
of the smaller shelters. The facility we're using this time is a new addition
and will give us lots of flexibility to meet and reminisce. The cost of this
event is $15.00 per person through August 31, 2010. After that date the cost
will be $20.00 per person. The charge for Saturday will cover your food and
beverages.

Ever wonder what Coach Hott is doing these days?
Have a look here:

A word of caution; The video has a commercial intro with loud volume. Also, the
video file did not download
smoothly to my computer, but played, paused, loaded, played a little, paused and
downloaded some more.

I decided to actually work on the site itself and do some long overdue scanning. As a result, these pages are either entirely new or newly fleshed-out with images:

Why, you may well wonder, did I
concentrate solely on the Class of 1967?? That's because
David Whitley ('67) of VA
graciously loaned me his 1967 Anchor back in the Fall of 2006 and it's
high time to return it to him!
Thanks again,
Gorgeous!
NOTE: I had planned to finish several more sections, but this is taking even longer (and making me even nutzier!) than I had anticipated, so I'll be working on this for the next few days.

Of course then the Hampton student
body would respond with their own cheer: You
can't crush a crab, you can't crush a crab, you can fight
and fight with all your might but you can't crush a crab!
Unfortunately during the annual Turkey Day
Classic, they were usually right. In the 1951/52 school year
(my first year at NNHS), we came into the game with an
impressive 7-2 record but HHS beat us 48-0 and ruined a
pretty good season. Actually, they beat us every year I was
at NNHS except one and that ended in a tie. But we did make
up for it in basketball.
Sydney
Thanks so
much, Sydney - I remember them both!

From Carol Anne Comer Cutler ('70) of VA -
07/21/10 - "Wasps":
Something about those bees & wasps this year. I got stung
about three weeks ago by an Eastern Yellow Jacket. I was
taking a hummingbird feeder apart to wash, & one came out
and stung me on the left thumb. Hurt like nothing I had ever
felt before. Burning & then itching. Long story
shortened....I ended up at Urgent Care because my left hand
looked like someone had blown it up with an air hose. Got
stung again last night on the left leg, but so far, so
good!! They are aggressive little devils.
YOWZERONI! I hope
you're feeling better now, Carol!

From My Cousin, Cheryl White Wilson
(John Marshall HS - '64) of VA - 07/20/10 - "Tussing Elementary, Colonial
Heights, VA":
Greetings, This is where my grandson, Steven, will attend school this year! Love, Cheryl This is absolutely grrrrrr8! If you want to make your day, turn your speakers on and listen to this song - written by a teacher and sung by 3rd graders - it gave me chills..... After all the bad press over a few teachers who stepped out of line teaching songs to our children, this one is one you will be so proud to hear. At the end of the song you can order the sheet music. Awesome. I hope this sweeps our country and gets sung in all our schools. The music teacher wrote the song and had all the third graders sing. Enjoy -- great message. From the third graders of Tussing Elementary, Colonial Heights, Virginia. WOWZERS!
Thank you, Cheryl!
