Our deepest condolences are extended to the Wasserman family and their friends at this time.
From Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA - 07/21/07 - "Cecelia Perzekow Wasserman":
When I read (and said) the name PERZEKOW, some
recognition bells went off in my head. I knew I had heard that name before, and
I can almost hear my
mother's voice saying it. That led me to think that she may have known
Cecilia at Jackson School or
NNHS (the age is right) or as a neighbor in
North End ... or all three.
So, that led me to check for the family in the 1930 census. As I suspected, they
lived in North End (4708 Huntington Avenue):
Name
Age
Harry Perzekow 41
Goldie Perzekow 37
Henry Perzekow 17
Nathan L Perzekow 13
Cecelia Perzekow 8
Calvary Baptist Church is located at 4700
Huntington, so I am guessing that this family lived between the church and
the Colonial Store on the corner of 48th
St ... before the church expanded. I would bet that it is one of the two
homes next to CBC shown (here). WOW! That's amazing, David! Thank you so much for this additional information! It isn't often that we can show an image of someone's childhood home on a Memorial Newsletter. |
