Dear Friends and Schoolmates,   

   We have more sad news to report today.  Freddie Hawkins, Class of @ 1961, husband of Nancy Powell Hawkins of VA, passed away in Hampton on Saturday, July 17, 2010.  He was the brother of Sue Hawkins Wright and the brother-in-law of    Lydia Powell Mugler ('58) of VA.

Thomas Freddie Hawkins, Sr.       HAMPTON - Thomas Freddie Hawkins Sr., died Saturday, July 17, 2010. A lifelong resident of the Peninsula, he graduated from Newport News High School and worked for Creasy and Whiteed Roofing and Sheetmetal. Mr. Hawkins is survived by his wife, Nancy Powell Hawkins; son, Freddie Hawkins Jr.; grandchildren, Zachary Thomas Hawkins, Jessica Layne Hawkins and Mackenzie Ann Hawkins; sister, Sue Wright and family; and sister-in-law, Lydia Powell Mugler and family.   Freddie Hawkins 1961 Anchor, p. 63 The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Drive, Hampton. I grew up on the corner of Lynnhaven and Concord and Mr. Hawkins always waved at us when we was growing up. He will be sadly missed.
