      YORKTOWN - Jimmy Edwards passed away on Tuesday morning, July 14, 2015 at home.

He was born and raised in downtown Newport News by Godly and loving parents Curtis and Rachel Edwards along with his sister Judy Edwards Andrews (now of Suffolk).

He graduated from Newport News High School in 1962 and attended Virginia Tech. He began his career as a draftsman at Fort Eustis and worked his way to Director of Operations and Support at the Army Training Support Center where he retired in 2000.

Jimmy began his life in Christ as a child at Ivy Memorial Baptist Church. In his early 20s, he raised his daughter Sherri with the help of his parents. He renewed a firm faith in Christ and never wavered. He continued to grow in faith with the help of many Godly men and women.

Oh, How I Love Jesus

Words by Frederick Whitfield; Traditional American Melody

There is a name I love to hear,
I love to sing its worth;
It sounds like music in my ear,
The sweetest name on earth.

Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Because He first loved me!

It tells me of a Saviour's love,
Who died to set me free;
It tells me of His precious blood,
The sinner's perfect plea.

It tells me what my Father hath,
In store for every day,
And tho' I tread a darksome path,
Yields sunshine all the way.

It tells of One whose loving heart
Can feel my deepest woe,
Who in each sorrow bears a part,
That none can bear below.
