Dear
Friends and Schoolmates,
Incredibly, we have
still more sad news this Monday evening. Becky May,
Class of 1964, passed away in Newport News on Monday, June 30, 2008 at the
age of 60.
From Linda Lane Lane
('64) of VA
to
Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA - 07/14/08,
4:53 PM - "Passing of a classmate":
Hi Dave,
Last week, I read a small blip in the obit section of the Daily Press for one of
our former class mates. In school she went by
Becky May but now I cannot locate
it. She was 60 and had worked at Barclay Jewelry and
Store Room Furniture
as office manager. I had a friend who also worked at Barclay when it was
downtown, and I also worked there at Christmas several years during school
along with Bobby Houston. Becky came on full time and remained until the
Warwick store closed. To my knowledge, she never married and still lived in her
family home in the Briarfield area. Did you happen to see this?
Cousin Linda

Passing of a classmate":
Linda,
I think it was a free death notice, not a paid obit, which is why I could not
find it by a DP search. I had to resort to one of my "double secret" search
engines.
For Carol: Becky was Linda's and my 1964 classmate
Dave
Oh, how sad!
Yes, I remember Becky. Thank you so much for letting us know, David - and
Linda!
From the Daily Press - 07/13/08:
Our deepest sympathies are extended to Becky's family and friends.

Lead, Kindly Light
Lyrics by John Henry Newman, 1833
Music by John B. Dykes, 1865
Lead, kindly Light, amid th’encircling gloom,
Lead Thou me on!
The night is dark, and I am far from home;
Lead Thou me on!
Keep Thou my feet; I do not ask to see
The distant scene; one step enough for me.
I was not ever thus, nor prayed that Thou
Shouldst lead me on;
I loved to choose and see my path; but now
Lead Thou me on!
I loved the garish day, and, spite of fears,
Pride ruled my will. Remember not past years!
So long Thy power hath blessed me, sure it will,
Will lead me on.
O’er moor and fen, o’er crag and torrent, till
The night is gone,
And with the morn those angel faces smile,
Which I have loved long since, and lost awhile!
Meantime, along the narrow rugged path,
Thyself hast trod,
Lead, Savior, lead me home in childlike faith,
Home to my God.
To rest forever after earthly strife
In the calm light of everlasting life.
