Have You Ever Been Lonely?

“It is strange to be known so universally and yet to be so lonely.”

- Albert Einstein
(14 Mar 1879 – 18 Apr 1955)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

I think this hot, muggy, rainy, stormy weather, combined with recent tragic events in the news, has finally put me into a bit of a melancholy mood. Sigh....

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Have_You_Ever_Been_Lonely%3F:

"Have You Ever Been Lonely?" is a popular song with music by Peter De Rose and lyrics by Billy Hill (writing under the name of George Brown), published in 1932. It has been recorded by many singers, becoming a standard.

Ted Lewis and Ray Noble with vocalist Al Bowlly [1] had successful records in 1933. A small cover war emerged between Jaye P. Morgan and Karen Chandler in 1955. The song was a pop chart entry by the Caravelles, a British girl group, in 1964. An electronically edited duet featuring Jim Reeves and Patsy Cline, who never recorded together while alive, became a top 10 country-western hit in the early 1980s.

Have You Ever Been Lonely?

Music by Peter De Rose (10 Mar 1900 - 23 Apr 1953), 1932 or 1934

Lyrics by Billy Hill (writing under the name of George Brown) (14 Jan 1899 - 24 Dec 1940)

Originally a hit for the Paul Whiteman Orchestra, it was recorded
by
Teresa Brewer in 1960, Patsy Cline in 1961, and Jim Reeves in 1962.

Have you ever been lonely?
Have you ever been blue?
Have you ever loved someone,
Just as I love you?

Can't you see that I'm sorry,
For each mistake I've made?
Can't you see I've changed dear?
Can't you see that I've paid?

Oh, be a little forgiving.
Take me back in your heart.
How can I go on living,
Now that we're apart?

If you knew what I'd been through,
You'd know why I ask you:
Have you ever been lonely?
Have you ever been blue?

Be a little forgiving.
Take me back in your heart.
How can I go on living,
Now that we're apart?

If you knew what I'd been through,
You'd know why I ask you:
Have you ever been lonely?
Have you ever been blue?
