From First Cremation Society @ 04/12/19:

                   Yvonne Morrison Cottrell

N - Margaret “Yvonne” Cottrell of Franklinton, NC entered heaven on Monday, April 8, 2019, at Transitions LifeCare Hospice Home at the age of 72. She passed away peacefully after a courageous, hard fought battle with cancer.

Yvonne was born on August 10, 1946, in Mt. Airy, NC to the late Lee Roy and Frances Morrison.

She graduated from Newport News High School and attended George Washington University in Washington, D.C. After college, Yvonne took a position with the Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co. where she worked in their purchasing department for 14 years. During that time, she met and married the love of her life, Wayne Cottrell, who retired from the US Navy.

After having their son, Yvonne took the role of being a mother and homemaker, totally dedicating herself in all aspects of her son’s life.

In addition to her parents, Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Wayne Cottrell; and her brother, Willie Pete Morrison.

Her interests included family, gardening, sewing, shopping and reading. She devoted much of her time and energy to her family. Her generous ways, infectious personality and optimistic attitude caused her to be valued by many. Yvonne treasured her “little” family the most in her life. She adored her son, his wife, and their two daughters. She cherished her granddaughters and loved them more than life itself. She will greatly be missed.

She leaves behind her son and wife, Wayne and Mandee Cottrell of Wake Forest, NC; her two granddaugthers, Jaycee Cottrell and Everly Cottrell of Wake Forest, NC; her sister and brother in law, Kim and Randy Hicks of White Plains, NC; her brother and sister in law, Roy and Barbara Morrison of Mt. Airy, NC; her nephew and wife, Roy and Laura Morrison Jr of Tobaccoville, NC and their daughter, Abrielle Morrison.

A time of gathering to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, April 26 from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. in the event room at Shuckers Grill, located at 3309 Rogers Rd. Wake Forest, NC. Yvonne touched the lives of many, so the family welcomes anyone wanting to share in her memory. In lieu of donations or flowers, spend time in your yard and plant a flower, tree or shrub in remembrance of her.

Online Condolences may be made at www.firstcremation.com.

Wayne and Mandee, I'm so sorry to read about your great loss. Your mother had such a contagious smile, and was such a great encouragement to me. I was overwhelmed with her kindness. She made special chocolates for Santa. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5

Lead Me Gently Home

Words and Music by Will L. Thompson, 1879
(07 Nov 1847 - 20 Sept 1909)

Lead me gently home, Father,
Lead me gently home;
When life’s toils are ended,
And parting days have come,
Sin no more shall tempt me,
Ne’er from Thee I’ll roam,
If Thou’ll only lead me, Father,
Lead me gently home.

* Refrain:
Lead me gently home, Father,
Lead me gently home, Father,
Lest I fall upon the wayside,
Lead me gently home.

Lead me gently home, Father,
Lead me gently home;
In life’s darkest hours, Father,
When life’s troubles come,
Keep my feet from wand’ring,
Lest from Thee I roam,
Lest I fall upon the wayside,
Lead me gently home.
