Margaret “Yvonne” Cottrell of Franklinton, NC entered heaven on Monday,
April 8, 2019, at Transitions LifeCare Hospice Home at the age of 72. She
passed away peacefully after a courageous, hard fought battle with cancer. She graduated from Newport News High School and attended George Washington University in Washington, D.C. After college, Yvonne took a position with the Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co. where she worked in their purchasing department for 14 years. During that time, she met and married the love of her life, Wayne Cottrell, who retired from the US Navy. After having their son, Yvonne took the role of being a mother and homemaker, totally dedicating herself in all aspects of her son’s life. |

Her
interests included family, gardening, sewing, shopping and reading. She
devoted much of her time and energy to her family. Her generous ways,
infectious personality and optimistic attitude caused her to be valued by
many. Yvonne treasured her “little” family the most in her life. She adored
her son, his wife, and their two daughters. She cherished her granddaughters
and loved them more than life itself. She will greatly be missed. |

Lead Me Gently Home
Words and Music
by Will L. Thompson, 1879
(07 Nov 1847 - 20 Sept 1909)
Lead me gently home, Father,
Lead me gently home;
When life’s toils are ended,
And parting days have come,
Sin no more shall tempt me,
Ne’er from Thee I’ll roam,
If Thou’ll only lead me, Father,
Lead me gently home.
* Refrain:
Lead me gently home, Father,
Lead me gently home, Father,
Lest I fall upon the wayside,
Lead me gently home.
Lead me gently home, Father,
Lead me gently home;
In life’s darkest hours, Father,
When life’s troubles come,
Keep my feet from wand’ring,
Lest from Thee I roam,
Lest I fall upon the wayside,
Lead me gently home.
