PRAYER REQUEST:

From Butch Ragland ('63) of CO - 06/29/16:

Heavy and big! My podiatrist decided to put a cast on my remaining foot to allow for final and quick healing, with an opening on the right side so my home care nurse can clean and care for the small wound on her visits a few times each week. This will come off in two weeks and hopefully I will be done with this problem! I can't afford to lose this foot!

Keep me in your prayers, folks! Thanks and God Bless each of you! Kind of nice getting on the back deck again!

June 30, 1934 - Adolf Hitler purged the Nazi Party by destroying the SA and bringing to power the SS in the "Night of the Long Knives."

June 30, 1941 - Operation Barbarossa – Germany captured Lviv, Ukraine.

June 30, 1943 - General Douglas MacArthur launched Operation Cartwheel. The purpose of the operation, which took nine months to complete, was to destroy the barrier formation that Japan had created in the Bismark Archipelago.

June 30, 1944 - The Battle of Cherbourg ended with the fall of the strategically valuable port to American forces.

June 30, 1955 - The U.S. began funding West Germany’s rearmament.

Thursday, June 30, 1966 - Boxer and actor Mike Tyson was born Michael Gerard Tyson in Brooklyn, New York City, New York.

Thursday, June 30, 1966 - Race car driver Giuseppe Farina (b. 30 Oct 1906 in Turin, Piedmont, Italy) was killed instantly when he lost control of his Lotus Cortina in the Savoy Alps, near Aiguebelle, Savoie, France, and hit a telegraph pole. On his way to the 1966 French Grand Prix, he was 59.

1. Wednesday, July 13, 2016 - The NNHS Class of June 1942 meets at noon on the second Wednesday of every other month for a Dutch treat lunch at the James River Country Club, 1500 Country Club Road. PLEASE JOIN THEM. Give or take a few years makes no difference. Good conversation, food and atmosphere. For details, call Jennings Bryan at 803-7701 for reservations.
2. Friday and Saturday, September 16 and 17, 2016 - The NNHS Class of 1966 will hold their 50-Year Reunion - OPEN TO ALL CLASSES. Friday Night: Meet and Greet at The Cove Restaurant, City Center, NN, 711 Lakefront Commons, NN from 7:00 PM - closing. Saturday Night: Marriott Hotel, City Center, 740 Town City Drive, NN from 7:00 PM - midnight in the Pearl Room.
3. Wednesday and Thursday, October 19 and 20, 2016 - The NNHS Class of 1956 will hold their 60-Year Reunion.
