From the Daily Press - 07/03/16:

     Brian David Bartram

    POQUOSON - Our son, Brian David Bartram, born March 11, 1968, left us unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 28, 2016.

He is survived by his parents, Larry and Dee Bartram; sister, Julie Todd; two nephews he adored, Seth and Ethan Grondin; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Brian was a graduate of Poquoson High School, and East Carolina University and was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. He was employed by Newport News Shipbuilding as a Procurement Analyst, where his work ethic was well respected.

Our son was our rock. He was a kind and thoughtful man who had an outstanding personality. He played the guitar beautifully and was an avid Widespread Panic fan. Our hearts will be heavy with loss for a very long time but we will remember that someone so special will never be forgotten because when someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.

Brian Bartram

  A Celebration of Brian's life will take place on Tuesday, July 5, 6:00 PM, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, 836 Poquoson Avenue. Please come honor him with your presence and to share your memories of his life adventures and misadventures with his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Brian's name to the Poquoson Volunteer Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 2099, Poquoson, VA, 23662.

Dee, Larry and family, I did not know your son but I have just gone through a similar situation. My daughter, Jennifer Lane DeVorss, passed away April 3. She was not sick. In God's time, he was calling our children home to be with him. I know you probably feel like we did trying to understand why. This question may never be answered but slowly the picture will come together. I weep for you and will pray for God's love to keep you in his arms.
You may remember me. Our mothers worked together in the shipyard during the war

Larry and Dee,

We are so sad to learn of Brian's death. We think back to the summer of 1966 when both of us were married a month apart. Both our sons were born in 1968 in the closeness of our neighborhood. You are in our hearts and prayers. May you find peace and comfort in the passage of time and the love of your families and friends.

Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise

Words by Walter C. Smith, 1876
Music (St. Denio) by John Roberts, 1839

Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessèd, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great Name we praise.

Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might;
Thy justice, like mountains, high soaring above
Thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love.

To all, life Thou givest, to both great and small;
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish—but naught changeth Thee.

Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
But of all Thy rich graces this grace, Lord, impart
Take the veil from our faces, the vile from our heart.

All laud we would render; O help us to see
’Tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee,
And so let Thy glory, Almighty, impart,
Through Christ in His story, Thy Christ to the heart.
