I am acquainted with Kathryn only through her soft voice on the telephone during numerous conversations with her son, Billy, and by his accounts of her and the pictures and memories he has shared. Clearly, she was a loving mother and a gentle soul and my only regret is not to have met her personally. Her spirit, now free from suffering, is within us all. My deepest condolences to the family.

I knew Kathy by being a neighbor; our boys played together when they were much younger. I know a loss of a mother, a spouse, seems so sad, so empty to us that are left behind. OH, But is she singing with the Lord today, pain free, and now boys, looking down on you and still praying for you to keep safe, and she was and will be the best mother ever! Bill, our thoughts and love go out you also, Keep your head up; you have those two special sons to look after :) God will help you, may God Bless You all, Sherry Chavez

To Kathy's Family
A very good hearted and loving individual whom has been missed very much. Kathy never let her illness to get in her way; she still came to work with a smile on her face. I am glad I had the opportunity to sit and chat with at Verizon for a year of fun. She was always smiling and laughing, no matter what the customer was telling her. She has been missed very much and will be. And I know where she is she has those angels around her smiling and laughing, just as she had us. You will be in my prayers.

Bill, Billy, Michael and family, I have fond memories of days spent at Newport News High School, C&P Telephone/Bell Atlantic/Verizon with Kathy. Her friendship over the years is very special to me and I will never forget her sense of humor and heartwarming laugh. Family meant everything to Kathy and I know you miss her terribly. Each one of you is in my prayers. She touched the lives of many and I am blessed that one of them was me.

Billy, I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom was always so loving and supportive of everything you did. I still remember spending time with her when we all went to NY and getting dressed for SAI/PMA formals at your house. I know you will miss her a lot, but I truly believe she is in a better place. Listen to the song "Homesick" by Mercy Me when you get a chance. It has helped me put things in perspective when I have lost close family members. I love you and will do anything you need me to do to help your family.

Abide With Me

Words by Henry F. Lyte, 1847
Music by William H. Monk, 1861

Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
Earth's joys grow dim; its glories pass away;
Change and decay in all around I see;
O Thou who changest not, abide with me.

Not a brief glance I beg, a passing word,
But as Thou dwell'st with Thy disciples, Lord,
Familiar, condescending, patient, free.
Come not to sojourn, but abide with me.

Come not in terrors, as the King of kings,
But kind and good, with healing in Thy wings;
Tears for all woes, a heart for every plea.
Come, Friend of sinners, thus abide with me.

Thou on my head in early youth didst smile,
And though rebellious and perverse meanwhile,
Thou hast not left me, oft as I left Thee.
On to the close, O Lord, abide with me.

I need Thy presence every passing hour.
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.

I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless;
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.

Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes;
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee;
In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.
