Dear
Friends and Schoolmates,
There is more sad if slightly belated news today.
Sammy Fox, Valedictorian of the Class of
1966,
brother of Barry Fox
('68), Delaney, Olivia, Amelia
and
Camila,
passed away in Litchfield
Park, Arizona on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the age of 67.
He was the cousin of

and
Jeff Fox ('69) of LA.
From
Jeff Fox ('69) of LA - 06/21/16, 5:25 PM - "Passing of
Samuel "Sammy" J. Fox":
Oh, Jeff!
I'm so sorry to learn this sad news!
Yes, I am the one to handle the obituaries; I often just do not
handle them well, as in this instance. Sammy and I were in a number of
the same classes and organizations over the years, and I really enjoyed
knowing him. I didn't know until now that he was his class
valedictorian, but I am certainly not surprised; his intelligence shown
around him like a light.
May his memory be for a blessing always.

Sammy 's family needs to know he achieved something I could never do... He climbed the rope in gym class in 1966! I think my comment at the time was "Damn! Well, if Fox can do it, I can at least TRY harder!" Nope. I never could... |

Whispering Hope
Words and Music by Alice Hawthorne (11 May 1827 - 22 Nov 1902), 1868
"Alice
Hawthorne" was really Setimus Winner, one of the most versatile writers of the
mid-19th century.
Winner went from the bird calls of "Listen to the Mocking
Bird" to the doggerel nonsense
of "Oh, Where, Oh, Where Has My Little Dog Gone?"
to the gentle and optimistic "Whispering Hope."
Soft as the voice of an angel
Breathing a lesson unheard;
Hope with a gentle persuasion
Whispers her comforting word.
Wait till the darkness is over,
Wait till the tempest is done;
Hope for the sunshine tomorrow,
After the shower is gone.
Whispering Hope,
Oh, how welcome thy voice,
Making my heart
in its sorrow rejoice.
