Glenna Stanley Little
(28 June 1934 - 21 June 2007)

Newport News High School Class of 1952

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

   We have still more sad news today.

From the Daily Press - 06/24/07:

        Glenna Stanley Little

  YORKTOWN - Glenna Stanley Little, widow of Joseph L. Little, died Thursday, June 21, 2007. Born June 28, 1934, in Middlesboro, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Wilson Scott Stanley and Anna Mae Stanley Fallen. She was a peninsula resident since 1941. Mrs. Little was a 1952 graduate of Newport News High School. She retired from the Computer Center at Newport News Shipbuilding after more than 40 years of service. A longtime active member of Parkview Church of God, she served on the Finance Committee and sang in the choir for many years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tom Carmine, and a much loved grandson, Bret Carmine, all of Newport News; a sister, Mary Evelyn Yeary of Middlesboro, Ky.; sisters-in-law, Shirley Formichelli and Rosa Woodall and her husband, Aubrey; brother-in-law, Bennie Little; and numerous nieces and nephews. A beloved brother, William George 'Billy' Stanley, preceded her in death. Glenna was known for sending special cards to those she loved. If only we could live up to the way those cards described us! We will miss how much she loved us all, and we will hold her memory dear to our heart. Though she did not want to leave us, she was ready to spend eternity with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, June 25, at Peninsula Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Peninsula Funeral Home with Pastors Mark Hambrick and Paul Eure officiating. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkview Church of God, 1116 Briarfield Road, Newport News, VA 23605.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I attended Parkview Church of God with Glenna, and thought her to be a treasure. She always had a smile and a hug for me. When I moved from VA, saying good-bye to Glenna was very hard to do. God Bless you during this time.

Dear Linda, Tom and Bret: Our love, sympathy and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Glenna was one of the finest Christians I have ever known and I was so honored to have had the opportunity to have worked with her for many years. She taught me so much I shall never forget. We certainly know where she now is and she is in no more pain. She is having a grand reunion with so many who have gone on before. One day, we will have the opportunity of being reunited with her...until then, we have so many wonderful memories of this dear lady. We all loved her so much.

Linda and family,
Your mom was is what being a Christian is about. She was kind and thoughtful and caring and always always considerate of other peoples feelings. to know her was to love her. Never judgmental but always
in prayers, never questioned and always reassured, God will take care of everything. She always sent the most encouraging cards no matter the occasion she will be missed. She is an angel in heaven
singing as she did in church and rejoicing with those that have gone on. She has her gloried body now ..no more pain....we are in prayer for all the family and extended family and friends.

Linda and Family,
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family for the loss of your Mom. Be assured that she is in a better place. She was a kind and gentle woman who was a role model for so many of us at PCOG. She was gentle woman whom God had blessed with a caring heart and a humble spirit. We treasure the time we had with her. We will miss her but we rest on the promise that we will see her again.

Amazing Grace

Words by John Newton, 1779

 Amazing grace! (how sweet the sound)
That sav'd a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears reliev'd;
How precious did that grace appear,
The hour I first believ'd!

Thro' many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promis'd good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease;
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who call'd me here below,
Will be forever mine.
