She Thinks I Still Care

“Where you used to be, there is a hole in the world, which I find myself constantly
walking around in the daytime, and falling in at night. I miss you like hell.”

- Edna St. Vincent Millay
 (22 Feb 1892 - 19 Oct 1950)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

This is a great ol' sad song!

BONUS #2 - She Thinks I Still Care - Elvis Presley, February 1976

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/She_Thinks_I_Still_Care:

"She Thinks I Still Care" is a song written by Dickie Lee which became the third C&W #1 hit for George Jones, spending six weeks at #1 in the spring/summer of 1962. The B-side: "Sometimes You Just Can't Win", reached #17 C&W.[1]

Connie Francis recorded the song as "He Thinks I Still Care" in a June 18, 1962 session at Columbia Recording Studio in Nashville TN which was produced by Danny Davis & Jim Vienneau.[1] The track had a September 1962 single release as the B-side to "I Was Such A Fool (To Fall In Love With You)" but garnered enough attention to reach #57 on the Billboard Hot 100 (#51 on the Cash Box Pop 100).

Anne Murray remade "He Thinks I Still Care" for her 1973 Danny's Song album and in 1974 this track was issued as the B-side to Murray's Top Ten Pop hit "You Won't See Me"; shopped to C&W radio, "He Thinks I Still Care" became Murray's first C&W #1.[2]

“Sometimes blessings flow to us like water from a spring, but more often, I think, they come to us from a well, when we are willing to do the hard work of letting down a bucket and then pulling it up, heavy and dripping. Faithfulness brings forth these blessings.

The flight attendant on the trip was handing out plastic pilot wings to some kids. As the young man stepped forward, she playfully offered some to him.

He passed, pointing to the Airborne wings on his Army uniform. He explained, “The last time someone gave me wings, I had to jump out of the airplane.”

She Thinks I Still Care

Written by Dickie Lee (b. 21 Sept 1936)

Recorded by George Jones (12 Sept 1931 - 26 Apr 2013), 1962

Just because I ask a friend about her
Just because I spoke her name somewhere
Just because I rang her number by mistake today
She thinks I still care

Just because I haunt the same old places
Where the mem'ry of her lingers ev'rywhere
Just because I'm not the happy guy I used to be
She thinks I still care

But if she's happy thinkin' I still need her
Then let that silly notion bring her cheer
But how could she ever be so foolish
Oh where would she get such an idea

Just because I ask a friend about her
And just because I spoke her name somewhere
Just because I saw her then went all to pieces
She thinks I still care
She thinks I still care
