Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
I was
struck once more by the poignancy of this quotation from Grieg, and even more so when
I realized that he was barely 64 when he died. I
mean, YOWZERONI, that's not even old!

But isn't this just the most
delightful music?!?

Jamey (Douglas) Bacon
('66 - of VA) Mission Project progress report":
The selected start date for laying the bricks is
August 1, 2013. This was chosen in
consultation with Mr. Ken Thompson the proprietor of "Four
Seasons Home Repair" who will be the brains of the project. Ken and
I have been busy getting an Easement Permit because a total of 16
feet of the driveway sits on an easement. I purchased a construction
bond from
![]() ![]() I have reserved the excavator for the construction date. Remember that the excavator is donated by "Grand Rental Station's " Kevin Coats. The physical preparation of the site will be done by "Four Seasons Home Repair" who is also volunteering to help. I have purchased the bricks with donations from the Typhoons and others who responded to this need. It looks like we will be ready willing and able to do the job on August 1st. Pray for good weather and for Jamey's health and happiness.

butter cookie recipe":
The easy peanut
butter cookie recipe has another virtue in addition to requiring only
three ingredients and being simple to do: it's gluten-free. (It also is
delicious, and vanishes quickly around here. Chocolate chips are a nice
addition.)
OOOH, YEAH!
Thanks, Domi!

Norwegian Knee-High Winter Socks - "When the days get shorter and the
nights cooler, take on warm socks, and snuggle in front of the fireplace! There
are so many beautiful, knee-long socks out there, most of them knitted in fine
yarn. And what makes them special? The knitted patterns! Have you seen these
Norwegian patterns? I want Norwegian socks, but crocheted in chunky yarn, and
with pattern!... " -OH, MY GOODNESS! I LOVE
these! The pattern's not free, and it costs $6.71, but I think I just drooled
all over my keyboard!

- 06/14/13:
After
every flight, pilots fill out a form called a gripe sheet, which
conveys to the mechanics problems encountered with the aircraft
during the flight that need repair or correction. The mechanics read
and correct the problem, and then respond in writing on the lower
half of the form what remedial action was taken, and the pilot
reviews the gripe sheets before the next flight. Never let it be said that ground crews and engineers lack a sense of humor! Here are some actual logged maintenance complaints and problems as submitted by Qantas pilots and the solution recorded by maintenance engineers. (P = the problem logged by the pilot.) (S = the solution and action taken by the engineers.) P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement. S: Almost replaced left inside main tire. P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough. S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft. P: Something loose in cockpit. S: Something tightened in cockpit. P: Dead bugs on windshield. S: Live bugs on back-order. P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent. S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground. P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear. S: Evidence removed. P: DME volume unbelievably loud. S: DME volume set to more believable level. P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick. S: That's what they're there for. P: IFF inoperative. S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode. P: Suspected crack in windshield. S: Suspect you're right. P: Number 3 engine missing. S: Engine found on right wing after brief search. P: Aircraft handles funny. S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious. P: Target radar hums. S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics. P: Mouse in cockpit. S: Cat installed. |
