   Ohhh, John!  Thanks so much for passing along this sad news. Dickie was actually in my class. I remember that dazzling smile he always wore walking down the halls. I'm so sorry to learn of his passing.  Please give his sister our deepest sympathies.

 From Jeannie Collier Fitzgerald ('65) of VA - 06/20/07 - "RE:   Dickie Godwin":

Hi, Carol.

I just read about the loss of Dickie Godwin. When we were seniors, Dickie was my steady boyfriend. We went to the prom together. I remember going to Shoney's in his brother's Corvette. I'm so sorry to hear this sad news.

   I'm so sorry, Jeannie.  Thank you.

 From Shirley Caudill Williamson ('65) of VA - 06/21/07 - "RE:   Dickie Godwin":

Hi Carol,

It is always sad to hear of someone dying that you know but when it is someone that you were close to or dated, it really hurts your heart! Dickie was so full of life and always there for you if you needed him. I haven't seen him since graduation, but I thought of him often and the fun we had in school and on our dates. We never know when our creator will call us home!! I feel so sorry for his family for their loss, but I feel that he is in a better place than we are now.

Thanks for lending an ear.

Shirley C. Williamson

   Thank you, Shirley.  I'm so sorry about Dickie. I have had that experience myself, and can testify that it is mightily upsetting.

   Y'all take good care of each other!  TYPHOONS FOREVER!

                          Love to all, Carol

Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me

Words by Edward Hopper, Music by John E. Gould,1871

Jesus Savior, pilot me over life's tempestuous sea;
Unknown waves before me roll, hiding rock and treacherous shoal;
Chart and compass came from Thee; Jesus, Savior, pilot me.

As a mother stills her child, Thou canst hush the ocean wild;
Boisterous waves obey Thy will, when Thou say'st to them "Be still!"
Wondrous Sov'reign of the sea, Jesus, Savior, pilot me.

When at last I near the shore and the fearful breakers roar,
'Twixt me and the peaceful rest; then, while leaning on Thy breast,
May I hear Thee say to me, "Fear not, I will pilot thee."
