06/13/16 - NNHS Newsletter - Tell Me Why

Tell me who admires you and loves you, and I will tell you who you are.

-
Charles Augustin Sainte-Beuve
(23 Dec 1804 - 13 Oct 1869)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Ya know, sometimes I wish someone would tell me why.....

BONUS - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGrmxlZsxvo - Tell Me Why - The Beatles, 1964

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tell_Me_Why_%28The_Beatles_song%29:

"Tell Me Why" is a song by the Beatles from their album A Hard Day's Night. In North America, it was released on both the American version of A Hard Day's Night and the album Something New. Credited to Lennon–McCartney, it was written by John Lennon in either Paris or New York[1][2] and recorded in eight takes on 27 February 1964.[3]

Paul McCartney said:

I think a lot of these [Lennon's] songs like "Tell Me Why" may have been based in real experiences or affairs John was having, or arguments with Cynthia [Lennon’s wife] or whatever, but it never occurred to us until later to put that slant on it all.[4]

Lennon described the song as resembling "a black New York girl-group song".[5] Its basic structure of simple doo-wop chord changes and block harmonies over a walking bass line "creates an illusion of sincerity through its sheer attack."[2]

"Tell Me Why" was performed in the Beatles' debut feature film, A Hard Day's Night. The song was part of the 'studio performance' sequence, which was filmed at the Scala Theatre, London, on 31 March 1964.

The song is in the key of D major.

BONUS TELL ME WHAT DIET:

http://www.everydiet.org/diet/just-tell-me-what-to-eat - "Dr. Timothy Harlan is a physician and chef who has helped thousands of patients to achieve their weight loss goals. His book, Just Tell Me What To Eat, approaches dieting from the perspective of what you can eat instead of listing forbidden foods.

He provides dieters with a solution to weight loss in the form of a prescription of the foods to eat, when to eat them, how to prepare them and why these foods will improve your health. This program is a six-week medically based weight loss plan that includes nutritious foods and is based on the Mediterranean Diet."

FINALLY:

From www.ajokeaday.com - 06/12/16:

A man entered a restaurant and asked the waitress what was on special.

She replied, "Today we have lobster tales for 50 cents."

He said, "I'll take a dozen!"

She told him since it was a special he would have to pay in advance, which he did. Then she asked, "Are you ready for your first tale?"

He assured her he couldn't wait. Then she began, "Once upon a time there was a little lobster....."

Tell Me Why

Words and Music credited to Lennon–McCartney

Recorded by The Beatles, 1964

Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me
Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me

Well I gave you everything I had
But you left me sitting on my own
Did you have to treat me oh so bad
All I do is hang my head and moan

Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me
Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me

If there's something I have said or done
Tell me what and I'll apologize
If you don't I really can't go on
Holding back these tears in my eyes

Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me
Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me

Well I'm beggin' on my bended knees
If you'll only listen to my pleas
Is there anything I can do
'cause I really can't stand it
I'm so in love with you

Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me
Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me
