06/12/16 - NNHS Newsletter - Rose Garden

“One of the most tragic things I know about human nature
is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming
of some magical rose garden over the horizon - instead
of enjoying the roses blooming outside our windows today.”

- Dale Carnegie
(24 Nov 1888 - 01 Nov 1955)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

   It's true.....

BONUS - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-eclUz-RYI - Rose Garden - Lynn Anderson, 1973

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%28I_Never_Promised_You_A%29_Rose_Garden:

"(I Never Promised You A) Rose Garden" was the title of a song written by Joe South, that is best known as recorded by country singer Lynn Anderson. Her late 1970 release topped the U.S. country chart, reached number three on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 pop chart and remained the biggest selling recording by a female country artist until 1997.[citation needed]

... In the song, initially recorded by South himself, the narrator explains to his/her lover that though their relationship is not perfect, they should be grateful for the good and accept the bad along with it (as the chorus of the song repeats, "I beg your pardon; I never promised you a rose garden").

FINALLY:

From www.ajokeaday.com - 06/11/16:

My wife asked me to buy ORGANIC vegetables from the market. I went and looked around and couldn't find any. So I grabbed an old, tired looking employee and said, "These vegetables are for my wife. Have they been sprayed with any poisonous chemicals?"

The produce guy looked at me and said, "No. You'll have to do that yourself."

(I Never Promised You a) Rose Garden

Words and Music by Joe South (b. 28 Feb 1940)

Performed by Lynn Anderson (b. 26 Sept 1946), 1970

I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden.
Along with the sunshine,
There's gotta be a little rain sometimes.
When you take, you gotta give, so live and let live,
Or let go.
I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden.

I could promise you things like big diamond rings,
But you don't find roses growin' on stalks of clover.
So you better think it over.
Well, if sweet-talkin' you could make it come true,
I would give you the world right now on a silver platter,
But what would it matter?
So smile for a while and let's be jolly:
Love shouldn't be so melancholy.
Come along and share the good times while we can.

I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden.
Along with the sunshine,
There's gotta be a little rain sometimes.

Instrumental break.

I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden.

I could sing you a tune or promise you the moon,
But if that's what it takes to hold you,
I'd just as soon let you go, but there's one thing I want you to know.
You better look before you leap, still waters run deep,
And there won't always be someone there to pull you out,
And you know what I'm talkin' about.
So smile for a while and let's be jolly:
Love shouldn't be so melancholy.
Come along and share the good times while we can.

I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden.
Along with the sunshine,
There's gotta be a little rain sometimes.
