Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
  We have still more sad news today.     Virginia Jones Hessler, mother of Sandi Hessler Williams of MI, Annette Hessler Ciesla ('63) of IL, Ruthann Hessler Sullivan of VA, Kathy Hessler Renz of VA, and Debbie Hessler Burcher of VA, and of the late Patricia Hessler Fox ('65), passed away in Newport News on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at the age of 92.

I was sad to see in the Daily Press  (Newport News) that Ruthann and Annette Hessler (63) 's mother died.  Listed on 6-7-2011.

                 Virginia Jones Hessler


NEWPORT NEWS - Virginia Jones Hessler, 92, of Newport News, Va., passed away and went into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 4, 2011, at St. Francis Nursing Center in Newport News, Va.

Virginia was born on Feb. 16, 1919, in Niles, Ohio, and a resident of the Peninsula for over 60 years. She was also a retired civil servant from the Newport News Shipbuilding, Navy Department and an active member of Orcutt Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and a good friend to everyone. She enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, traveling, reading, playing bridge and bingo, working crossword puzzles and helping others.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Hessler; daughter, Patricia Fox of Poquoson, Va.; parents, Edward and Mabel Jones; brothers, Jim and Darwin; and sisters, Ruth, Catherine and Margie.



To cherish her memory are her daughters, Sandi Williams and husband, Gene of Warren, Mich., Annette Ciesla and husband, Lou of Chicago, Ill., Ruthann Sullivan and husband, Skip of Newport News, Va., Kathy Renz and husband, Tom of Newport News, Va., and Debbie Burcher and husband, Tom of Poquoson, Va.; 14 grandchildren, Karen Garner, Traci Gaines, Michael and Beth Ciesla, Candice Yost, Shannon Meder, Natalie Martin, Aulden Burcher, Kevin Sedgwick, Karen Piesynski, Christina Marsee, Michelle Babbish, Dante and Daniel Williams; 22 great-grandchildren, Britany and Morgan Boyle, Jeffrey and Bryan Gaines, Chase Garner, Hunter Yost, Kylie and Jenna Ciesla, Hayden Meder, Frank Seidita, Erin Buddie, Nicole and Holly Dettmer, Jenna, Jake and Isabella Babbish, and Nathaniel, Gino, Rosalie, Marco, Sophia, and Santino Williams; and six great great-grandchildren, Landon, Tucker and Kayden Boyle, Christopher and Madison Seidita, and Reagan Buddie. She will be deeply missed by all.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. Francis Nursing Center and The Hidenwood, for their compassionate care.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Peninsula Funeral Home, Newport News, Va., with the Rev. Chris Fowler and the Rev. Ken Trinkle officiating. There will be a reception immediately following the service at the home of Ruthann Sullivan. The interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Center for Dementia Research; or your favorite charity.
