Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
We have yet another sad edition of the NNHS Newsletter today. Ernie Soter has passed away in Newport News at the age of 86.

Ernest J. Soter
NEWPORT NEWS - Ernest J. Soter,
86, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2007. Mr. Soter was born March 25, 1921,
to parents, the late George and Agnes Soter. He was a lifelong resident of
Newport News and had graduated from The Brothers school, Newport News High
School and the Newport News Apprentice School. He had also taken engineering
courses at the University of Virginia. He retired in 1977, after 30 years of
service as an engineering technician at NASA. He also served in the U.S.
Army during World War II. Ernie was preceded in death by five brothers,
Herbert, Joe, Buck, George and Charlie Soter; two sisters, Dorothy Soter and
Agnes Peterson. Survivors include two sisters, Cynthia S. Horan and Clara M.
Soter; three sisters-in-law, Virginia Soter, Myra Soter and Juanita Haskins;
and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him very much. The family will
receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at Peninsula
Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our
Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, officiated by Father Peter Tran.
Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be
made to a charity of choice. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements. |

The old order has passed away: welcome him then into paradise, where there will be no sorrow, no weeping nor pain, but the fullness of peace and joy with your Son and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever.
