From Jean Poole Burton ('64) of
RI - 06/04/09 - "Hi sweet lady...":
You really do know how to make me cry...I had to click on u-tube and listen to all the versions of Ashokan Farewell. That has to be THE most beautiful tune in the world!
Thanks, Jean, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I tend to get a little weepy this time of year myself.....
From My Niece, Shari, of VA - 06/04/09 - "Rules For Being Human":
Have A Nice Weekend.
Rules for
being Human - by Dr. Cherie Carter-Scott
You will receive a body.
You may like it or hate it,
but it's yours to keep
for the entire period.
You will learn lessons.
You are enrolled in a full-time,
informal school called life.
There are no mistakes, only lessons.
Growth is a process of trial, error
and experimentation.
The "failed" experiments are as much
a part of the process as the experiments
that ultimately "work".
Lessons are repeated until they are learned.
A lesson will be presented to you in various forms
until you have learned it.
When you have learned it,
you can go on to the next lesson.
Learning lessons does not end.
There is no part of life that doesn't
contain it's lessons.
If you're alive,
there are still lessons to be learned.
"There" is no better than "here".
When your "there" has become "here",
you will simply obtain another "there"
that will again look better than "here".
Other people are merely mirrors of you.
You can not love or hate something
about another person unless it reflects to you
something you love or hate about yourself.
What you make of your life is up to you.
You have all the tools and resources you need.
What you do with them is up to you.
The choice is yours.
Thanks, Shari!
FINALLY:
From Mark Hutcherson ('66) of VA - 06/04/09 - "Redneck fire alarm":

The REDNECK FIRE ALARM Available at most local grocery stores and Wal-Mart.

Words and Music
by

Fogerty
(b. 28 May 1945)
-
Creedence Clearwater Revival, 1969
Early in the evenin' just about supper time,
Over by the courthouse they're starting to unwind.
Four kids on the corner trying to bring you up.
Willy picks a tune out and he blows it on the harp.
Chorus:
Down on the corner, out in the street,
Willy and the poorboys are playin';
Bring a nickel; tap your feet.
Rooster hits the washboard and people just got to smile,
Blinky, thumps the gut bass and solos for a while.
Poorboy twangs the rhythm out on his kalamazoo.
Willy goes into a dance and doubles on kazoo.
Chorus
Chorus
You don't need a penny just to hang around,
But if you've got a nickel, wont you lay your money down?
Over on the corner there's a happy noise.
People come from all around to watch the magic boy.
Chorus
