Dear Friends and Schoolmates,   
   We have yet another sad Memorial Edition of the NNHS Newsletter.    Ted Lipsitz Fox, mother of      Bobby Fox ('63) of IA and of       Jeff Fox ('69) of LA, and herself a Newport News High School graduate, passed away in Newport News on Sunday, June 1, 2008 just shy of her 90th birthday.

Bobby's mom went to NNHS. Look for obit in NN newspaper. I'm so sorry for Bobby and Jeffrey.

My mom went to meet my dad and the rest of the family early this morning (Sunday).
 
For the past week she had refused her meds and food and kept talking to my dad.  We knew she was ready.  There's no doubt in my mind that my dad was communicating with her for the past few days.  Up until that time, she couldn't remember him at all.  She was ready to go.  She'll be buried this Thursday at 11 a.m.   

Thought you would like to know.

             Thelma 'Ted' Lipsitz Fox

 

NEWPORT NEWS - Thelma 'Ted' Lipsitz Fox, passed away at the Newport News Nursing and Rehabilitation Center early Sunday morning, June 1, 2008, after a long battle to recuperate from failing health from a hospital related illness.

Ted would have been 90 years old on June 24, 2008. She was the daughter of the late Alex and Rose Lipsitz; beloved wife of the late, Bernard 'Bucky' Fox; sister of the late, Gitela Jacobson. She was also preceded in death by Baby Stephen Leslie Fox.

She is survived by two sons, Robert and his wife, Carol of Davenport, Iowa, and Jeffrey of New Orleans, La.; four grandsons, Jason, Joshua, Justin and Nicholas; three great-grandchildren; special friend and caretaker, Nancy Townsend; and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

 

 


Ted, a lifelong native of Newport News, was a graduate of Newport News High School and an active member of Rodef Shalom Temple, Hadassah and O.R.T. She retired after being employed for over 25 years as the secretary and special advisor to many U.S. Army Generals at the Continental Army Command, Fort Monroe, Va.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the graveside service at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2008, in the Jewish Cemetery of the Virginia Peninsula.
