06/01/10 - NNHS Newsletter

This song popped into my head as I was sleeping, and I was astonished to realize that we had never used it as a Newsletter theme before.

The original production opened on Broadway on April 19, 1945, and ran for 890 performances. The musical has enjoyed award-winning revivals (particularly the 1994 revival at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre) and has been adapted as a Cinemascope 55 film in 1956 and as a made-for-television special on videotape in 1967. It is particularly well-regarded among musicals by the theatre community, and Richard Rodgers, in his autobiography Musical Stages, said it was his favorite musical. Time magazine named it the best musical of the 20th century.

In regards to the class of 1965 forty year reunion. Could you please add the names to the group picture taken by Chip:

I can’t figure out the names of most of them. I do however remember Mister (Joe) Wingo ('65 - of NC). It’s hard to forget someone who hits that hard!

Ahhh, Mike! You've called my bluff! There was probably a very good reason I didn't label that image when I posted it! Chances are excellent I couldn't identify everyone myself and didn't want to humiliate myself. And I must tell you, my memory and my vision (like everything else about me) has significantly deteriorated in these last five years. Still, I'll give it my best shot; my apologies to all for the bloopers and omissions.....

This is the new "wear your seatbelt" ad the UK is doing - started by some guy not hired to do it, but because the cause is important to him, he came up with this idea, and now it's being hailed across the world as a ‘beautiful' commercial. ...And now the video has gone "viral" - [which means, has become so popular with the general public that people are forwarding it to friends/family on their own so quickly that it has spread all over the world in a very short time].
