Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
How about a
Golden Oldie from 1957?
BONUS - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MW_SKWjrE2U - Book of Love - The Monotones
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Book_of_Love_%28song%29:
"The Book of Love" (also titled "(Who Wrote) The Book of
Love") was a
rock and roll song, originally by
The Monotones. It was written by three members of the group, Warren
Davis, George Malone and Charles Patrick, and it peaked at #5 on the
Billboard Hot 100. Lead singer Charles Patrick heard a Pepsodent toothpaste commercial with the line "wonder where the yellow went". From there he got the idea for the line, "I wonder, wonder, wonder who, who wrote the book of love", working it up into a song with Davis and Malone. The "boom" part of the song was a result of a kid kicking a ball against the garage while they were rehearsing, it sounded good, so they added it to the song. In September 1957, the Monotones recorded "The Book Of Love", which was released on the Mascot label in December that year. The small record company could not cope with its popularity, and it was reissued on Chess Records' subsidiary Argo label in February 1958. It attained a Billboard ranking of #5 for pop songs and #3 for R&B in 1958. It also reached #5 in Australia. In the UK, the hit version was a cover by The Mudlarks... |

INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Tuesday, May 27, 1862 BATTLIN’ BANKS BADNESS BARELY BEGUN Gen. Nathaniel Banks humiliation at the hands of Stonewall Jackson had been going on for some time now. Assigned to capture Jackson, Banks had been outthought and out-marched. When Jackson attacked, he was outfought, and lost 2000 of his force of 8000, plus all his supplies and wagons. Banks tried to make a stand at Winchester and lost, then Williamsport and lost again. Today the remains of his force straggled across the Potomac towards Harper’s Ferry. Banks thought they would be safe there, but Jackson was headed that way too. |

Jerry ('65) and

Hey, Everybody!
About that commercial
during American Idol last night.....
We missed it, too. It
was on near a Beyonce number. I had several say they did see it,
and some who did not. Anyway, you can see it by going to
www.harristeeter.com. Look down on the right at the caption
Trinity Lutheran School wins $10,000.
You can click on it; the commercial will
play. Remember, Josh is the cute nerd with dark glasses. He is
between two girls in the produce dept. picking out oranges. He also
did the singing and drumming for background sound.
Thanks for watching.
Trinity Lutheran
School also made the front page of the Daily Press today.
Judy
COOL BEANS! Now we can all watch it! ![]() ![]() http://www.dailypress.com/news/education/dp-nws-harris-teeter-jingle-20110525,0,7608052.story NEWPORT NEWS— A Newport News private school has won Harris Teeter's grand prize - $10,000 - for its version of the grocery chain's jingle. Trinity Lutheran School was named "overall winner" out of 33 elementary, middle, and high schools nationwide who entered the company's annual "Sing My Jingle" contest. Each school submitted its version of the company's "My Harris Teeter" jingle. Trinity Lutheran's 29-second entry, posted on the Harris Teeter website, shows 26 elementary-age students singing the jingle as they buzz through the store picking produce, opening freezer doors in sync and sweeping the aisles. The video was shot the Harris Teeter on Warwick Boulevard. All winners except Trinity Lutheran are in North Carolina, where the chain is headquartered. Prizes of $2,500 were given to a pre-school, an elementary school, a junior high and a high school. A "people's choice" winner received $1,000. Trinity Lutheran's head of schools, Lynne Fritzinger, said she personally thought the students did a great job but that it was a "very big surprise" to beat out middle and high schools for the top prize. The school will put the $10,000 toward technology upgrades, she said. |

Book of Love
Written by Warren Davis, George
Malone and Charles Patrick
Recorded by
The Monotones,
1957
[ I wonder, wonder who, bi du du, who
Who wrote the book of love ]
Tell me, tell me, tell me
Oh, who wrote the book of love
I've got to know the answer
Was it someone from above
[ repeat ]
I love you, darling
Baby, you know I do
But I've got to see this book of love
And find out why it's true
[ repeat ]
{ Chapter One says to love her
You love her with all your heart
Chapter Two, you tell her
You're never never never never ever gonna part
In Chapter Three remember
The meaning of romance
In Chapter Four you break up
But you give her just one more chance }
Oh,
[ repeat ]
Baby, baby, baby
I love you, yes I do
Well, it says so in this book of love
Ours is the one that's true
Oh,
[ repeat ]
{ repeat }
Oh,
[ repeat ]
Baby, baby, baby
I love you, yes I do
Well, it says so in this book of love
Ours is the one that's true
[ repeat ]
I wonder who (yeah)
