Elizabeth Ruth Long Hudson
(d. 23 May 2017)

Newport News High School Class of 1966

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
   I was quite distressed to learn this sad news today.
 Ruth Long Hudson, Class of 1966, sister of the late Carol Long Farmer ('65), passed away in Zuni on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the age of 69.

   Their mother, Nellie M. Long, died in 2013.

 From Dee Hodges Bartram ('66) of VA - 05/26/17, 9:27 AM - " Ruth Long Hudson, Class of 1966":

   Oh, Dee, I'm so sorry to hear this! The sparseness of the wording in the obituary caused me to glance right over this. Ruth was a sister of mine in the T.D.C. Sorority, and I recall many fun times with her. Thank you so much for bringing it to my attention, however distressful it is.

Shall We Gather at the River

Words and Music by Rev. Robert Lowry (1826-1899)

 Shall we gather at the river,
Where bright angel feet have trod;
With its crystal tide forever
Flowing by the throne of God?

Chorus

Yes, we'll gather at the river,
The beautiful, the beautiful river;
Gather with the saints at the river
That flows by the throne of God.

On the margin of the river,
Washing up its silver spray,
We will walk and worship ever,
All the happy golden day.

Chorus

Ere we reach the shining river,
Lay we every burden down;
Grace our spirits will deliver,
And provide a robe and crown.

Chorus

Soon we'll reach the shining river,
Soon our pilgrimage will cease,
Soon our happy hearts will quiver
With the melody of peace.
