Dear
Friends and Schoolmates,
This morning's
Newsletter is primarily composed of inspirational quotations, but sometimes they
are what is most needed.

"My
mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother.
I attribute all my success
in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her."
-
George Washington (22 Feb
1732- 14 Dec 1799)

From Susie Overton Jones
('63) of VA - 05/07/05:
In honor of Mother's Day
this Sunday,
I send the below to all of you - HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!
Before I was a Mom...
I never worried about how late I got into bed.
I slept as late as I wanted.
I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.
Before I was a Mom...
I cleaned my house each day.
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a
lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were
poisonous.
I never thought about immunization.
Before I was a Mom...
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Spit on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom...
I never held down a screaming child so that doctors
could give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby
sleep.
Before I was a Mom...
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't
want to put it down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my
life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom so deeply.
Before I was a Mom...
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside
my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a
hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her
child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me
feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom...
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known The warmth, The joy, The love, The
heartache,
The wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much.
And before I was a Grandma,
I didn't know that all those "Mom"
feelings more than doubled
when you see that little bundle being
held by 'your' baby...
And remember that behind every successful
mother......
Is a basket of dirty laundry!
Thanks, Susie - and
Happy Mother's Day!
"A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall
upon us; when adversity
takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our
sunshine, desert us when troubles
thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind
precepts and counsels to dissipate
the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts."

leaves of friendship fall;
A mother's secret hope outlives them all."

That no one can explain,
It is made of deep devotion
And of sacrifice and pain."

M-O-T-H-E-R
M Is for the
many things she gave me,
O Means only that she's growing old.
T Is for the tears she shed to save me,
H Is for her heart of purest gold.
E Is for her eyes with lovelight shinning,
R Means right and right she'll always be.
Put them all together, They spell MOTHER.
A word that means the world to me.
