Cecil Polston

NEWPORT NEWS - Cecil Polston, 86, of Newport News, passed Thursday, May 3, 2007, at Riverside Regional Medical Center. Mr. Polston was a mechanic with Newport News Shipbuilding for 20 years. A U.S. Army veteran of WWII, he received a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He loved to work in the yard; along with woodworking, he was an excellent mechanic who enjoyed visiting family, golfing, watching NASCAR and boxing. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Polston. Left to cherish his memory is his best friend and wife of 60 years, Esther Polston; two daughters, Vickie Lisandrillo and husband, Danny, of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and Sue Clark and husband, Kerry, of Canton, Ohio; two sons, Randy Polston of Newport News and Chris Polston of Ft. Myers, Fla.; a sister, Sarah Shearin of Portsmouth; a brother, Harold Polston of Nashville, Tenn.; and three grandchildren, Chris, Alexis and Christopher. A life celebration service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, May 7, at the funeral home. Friends are encouraged to visit www.mem.com to share words of comfort with the family.
