Dan was the man. Dan was always wearing a big smile. Growing up across the street, I always knew what a good neighbor was. It was Dan. I can't say enough about Dan. I will say that he was kind, generous, and thoughtful. Dan was there for my family when we lost our parents. He always had good things to say, and always had that perpetual smile. There will be many, many people who miss him, and I will be one of those. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Hood family, and I am smiling just knowing that Dan and my dad are probably having a little drink and an overdue game of golf.
Keep on smiling, Dan! You deserve it!

It makes me very sad to hear of Mr. Hood's passing. I always remember him for his humor, his wise words and his warm smile. He had a great deal of respect from all the kids in the neighborhood growing up.I

Dan Hood was one of the finest gentlemen I ever had the privilege to know. Though I had not seen him for many years, his passing is a personal loss. A great smile always! Goodbye, Dan.

Servant of God, Well Done!

Words by Charles Wesley (28 Dec 1707 - 29 Mar 1788)
Music by George J. Elvey (27 Mar 1816 - 9 Dec 1893)

(The Methodist Hymnal, 1966, #288)

Wesley wrote this hymn in 1770 on the occasion of the death of clergyman George White.
Elvey's tune, "Diademata", has been set to several other hymns, notably "Crown Him with Many Thorns" and "Soldiers of Christ, Arise".

 Servant of God, well done!
Thy glorious warfare’s past;
The battle’s fought, the race is won,
And thou art crowned at last.

With saints enthroned on high,
Thou dost thy Lord proclaim,
And still to God salvation cry,
Salvation to the Lamb!

O happy, happy soul!
In ecstasies of praise,
Long as eternal ages roll,
Thou seest Thy Savior’s face.

Redeemed from earth and pain,
Ah! when shall we ascend,
And all in Jesus’ presence reign
With our translated friend?
