Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
I was saddened this morning to read of the death of Claudia
Steele Coffey, Class of 1961, The widow
of John Coffey, she passed away in
Portsmouth on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the age of 67.
I remember Claudia's effervescent personality in high school - always cheerful, friendly, and smiling; I did not know she was ill.

To the Family of Claudia
Coffey, I had the pleasure of working with Claudia at John F. Kennedy
High School, June 1983 - April 1984. I was fresh out of college and she
welcomed me with open arms. She often shared stories with me about her
family and how proud she was of each of you. I truly enjoyed working
with her. She will be greatly missed. I will keep each of you in my
prayers. Cheryl King Evans

Robert and Iris,
We send our deepest sympathies to the Coffey family for the loss of Claudia. We know too well how hard it is to watch someone we love slip away and lose that special someone. May God comfort and keep you close to Him. God Bless! Jerry and Judy May 01, 2011

Lyrics by John Henry Newman, 1833
Music by John B. Dykes, 1865
Lead, kindly Light, amid th’encircling gloom,
Lead Thou me on!
The night is dark, and I am far from home;
Lead Thou me on!
Keep Thou my feet; I do not ask to see
The distant scene; one step enough for me.
I was not ever thus, nor prayed that Thou
Shouldst lead me on;
I loved to choose and see my path; but now
Lead Thou me on!
I loved the garish day, and, spite of fears,
Pride ruled my will. Remember not past years!
So long Thy power hath blessed me, sure it will,
Will lead me on.
O’er moor and fen, o’er crag and torrent, till
The night is gone,
And with the morn those angel faces smile,
Which I have loved long since, and lost awhile!
Meantime, along the narrow rugged path,
Thyself hast trod,
Lead, Savior, lead me home in childlike faith,
Home to my God.
To rest forever after earthly strife
In the calm light of everlasting life.
