Carol

I just received an e-mail from    Judy Leggette Elliott ('56) with the attached e-mail about the death of Donnie Spencer (NNHS '56).  This is all the information I have.

  Good morning,

Spoke with brother Harry this morning, and he had talked to
  Carolyn (Moell) Marcella ('56 - of VA), and was told that she had just received word that Donnie Spencer died last night (or it could have been very early this morning). I'm sure more details will be coming forth. Just wanted to let you know.

   Thank you, Sydney - and Judy.

   Thank you so much, Charlie. What precious memories. (I'm not certain what happened as I was processing this image, but fortunately it appears much clearer once it is enlarged.)

Nancy,
Mom and I were shocked to read of Donnie's passing. We send our sincere sympathy. He was a great friend to Mom and me. My Dad (who is gone now) loved him and his wit. He did a beautiful job on our putting siding on our home and the new windows.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Donnie will really be missed.

Sincerely,

Pearl and Faye Hutchinson

~ Faye Hutchinson, Onemo, Virginia

   Our sincerest sympathies are extended to Nancy and the Spencer and Timberlake families at this time.

Thine Be the Glory

Words by Edmond Louis Budry
(30 Aug 1854 - 12 Nov 1932)

Music by George Frideric Handel, 1947
(23 Feb 1685 - 14 Apr 1759)

Thine be the glory, risen, conq’ring Son;
Endless is the vict'ry, Thou o’er death hast won;
Angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away,
Kept the folded grave clothes where Thy body lay.
Thine be the glory, risen conq’ring Son,
Endless is the vict’ry, Thou o’er death hast won.

Lo! Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb;
Lovingly He greets us, scatters fear and gloom;
Let the church with gladness, hymns of triumph sing;
For her Lord now liveth, death hath lost its sting.
Thine be the glory, risen conq’ring Son,
Endless is the vict’ry, Thou o’er death hast won.

No more we doubt Thee, glorious Prince of life;
Life is naught without Thee; aid us in our strife;
Make us more than conq’rors, through Thy deathless love:
Bring us safe through Jordan to Thy home above.
Thine be the glory, risen conq’ring Son,
Endless is the vict’ry, Thou o’er death hast won.
