Wayne Alan Lambert

GLOUCESTER POINT - Wayne Alan Lambert, 65, died March 31, 2016, at his home surrounded by his beloved family following a lengthy battle with dementia.
Wayne retired after 35 years with Dominion Power as a lineman.

He was a proud Navy veteran, an avid outdoorsman, a loving and loyal husband and father, and a charismatic, funny friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Armand L. Lambert and Lillian Brunelle Lambert.

Wayne is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 34 years, Burke; son, Matthew Lambert and his wife Kelly; and daughter, Lisa Lopez and her husband Eric.

A funeral service officiated by the Rev. Donald Cavey will be held at 1:00 p.m. on April 9, 2016, in the Hampton VA Medical Center Main Chapel, located in Building 48, 100 Emancipation Drive, Hampton, VA 23667.

Burke, we have just learned of Wayne's death. We are so sorry for this tragic premature end to a good life. We have loved your family since Lill and Armand moved in 30 plus years ago. They were quiet, but lovely neighbors and now we are enjoying another generation near us. Please know we are grieving with you and are here in any way we can to support you. Chris and David.

Burke, you and Wayne were my best friends, and Sandra and I always enjoyed spending time with you both, especially when Matt and Lisa were growing up. Wayne was so proud of his family.

After I retired, one memory in particular is about Wayne's devotion to his mother. If I wanted to visit him, I knew he would be either at work, home, or at Mrs. Lambert's house. I knew I was always welcome so I would visit with her until Wayne eventually showed up. In one of our conversations, Mrs. Lambert told me "that Wayne could have looked the world over and never found a better wife and friend than Burke."

The time Wayne and I spent together after he retired was too short, but I'm so glad we were able to do so. I will miss him very much.
