04/14/14 - NNHS Newsletter - Passover Wishes

In every generation each person should feel as though she or he
were redeemed from Egypt, as it is said: 'You shall tell your children
on that day saying, It is because of what Adonai did for me when
I went free out of Egypt. For the Holy One redeemed not only

our ancestors; God redeemed us with them.'

- The Hagaddah

From My Husband, Paul Harty (Bardolph HS, IL - '61) of NC - 04/13/14 - "How to Stay Young":

We all need to read this one over and over - until it becomes part of who we are!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG
1. Try everything twice.
On one woman's tombstone she said she wanted this epitaph:
"Tried everything twice. Loved it both times!"

2. Keep only cheerful friends.
The grouches pull you down.
(Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)

3. Keep learning:
Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever...
Never let the brain get idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.'
And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud.
Laugh until you gasp for breath.

And if you have a friend who makes you laugh,
spend lots and lots of time with HIM /HER.

6.. The tears happen:
Endure, grieve, and move on
The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves.
LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love:
whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever..

Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health:
If it is good, preserve it.

If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips..

Take a trip to the mall, even to the next city, county,
to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.
I love you, my special friend.

11. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second chance.

Remember! Lost time is gone forever and can never be found.

Be kinder than is necessary,
for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

 AMEN! Thank you, Haul Party!

FINALLY:

From www.ajokeaday.com - 04/12/14:

Eight men had been at a mental hospital for a period of time and were being tested to find out how they are progressing in order for them to leave the institution.

The doctor in charge took them all into a room and with a ball pen drew a door on the wall and asked each one of the patients to try to open the door for him as part of the test.

Seven of them rushed out and attempted to open the door on the wall. The doctor was disappointed with the results, but nevertheless called on the last one who was still sitting down, and asked him why he didn’t stand up and try to open the door with the others.

The eighth man replied, “Because I was holding the key to the door.”

Jerusalem of Gold

The air of the mountains is as clear as wine

And the fragrance of the pine trees

Is lifted upon the evening breeze

With the ringing of the bells

And in the deep sleep of the tree and the stone

Held captive in a dream

The city which sits alone

And in her heart, a wall

Jerusalem of gold

And of copper and of light

For all of your songs

I am the harp

How the water cisterns have dried up

The city square is empty

Nobody goes up to the Temple Mount

In the Old City

And in the caves of the rocks

Winds howl

And no one goes down to the Dead Sea

Upon the Jericho Road

Jerusalem of gold...

Although I come to sing to you today

And to tie crowns upon you

I am less than the youngest of your sons

And the last of the sweet singers

For your name singes the lips

Like the kiss of the serpent

If I forget thee, oh Jerusalem

She is completely golden

Jerusalem of gold...

We have returned to the water cisterns

To the marketplace and the square

A shofar calls out on the Temple Mount

In the Old City

And in the caves in the rocks

A thousand suns shine forth

And again we will go down to the Dead Sea

Upon the Jericho Road

Jerusalem of gold...
