"Easter spells out beauty, the rare beauty of new life."

-  S.D. Gordon

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Two years ago at Easter time, we celebrated the secular holiday together:

Last year at Easter time, I thought it would be interesting to examine the religious Easter:

This year I thought we'd try one of each.

Accordingly, I split the Easter mail as I thought it best fit a particular theme.  NOTE: These two Easter pages do NOT contain the same material.  Other than the Birthdays and Dates to Remember, they are entirely different.

And yes, I'm aware that if your attitude is perfect enough, all things secular can be considered spiritual (and probably vice versa, if the obverse is true!), but just humor me here for the sake of simplicity.  Thanks!

From My Niece, Shari, of VA - 04/06/07 - "Happy Easter":

               I Need to Know,

                   I Learned

        from the Easter Bunny...

Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Walk softly and carry a big carrot.

Everyone needs a friend who is all ears.

There's no such thing as too much candy.

All work and no play can make you a basket case.

A cute little tail attracts a lot of attention.

Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day.

Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits.

Some body parts should be floppy.

Keep your paws off other people's jellybeans.

Good things come in small-sugarcoated packages.

The grass is greener in someone else's basket.

An Easter bonnet can cover the wildest hare.

To show your true colors, you have to come out of your shell.

The best things in life are still sweet and gooey.

GIGGLES!!!  That's pretty much true, isn't it?!?  Thanks, Shari!

From Stacy Dorn ('64) of VA - 04/06/07 - "Happy Keester!":

  Happy Easter!!!

   WILDER GIGGLES!!!  Thanks, Stacy!

  From Glenn Dye ('60) of TX - 04/06/07 - "A Rabbit and a Blonde":

A man is driving along a highway and sees a rabbit jump out across the middle of the road. He swerves to avoid hitting it, but unfortunately the rabbit jumps right in front of the car. The driver, a sensitive man as well as an animal lover, pulls over and gets out to see what has become of the rabbit. Much to his dismay, the rabbit is dead. The driver feels so awful that he begins to cry.

A beautiful blonde woman driving down the highway sees a man crying on the side of the road and pulls over. She steps out of the car and asks the man what's wrong.

"I feel terrible," he explains, "I accidentally hit this rabbit and killed it."

The blonde says, "Don't worry." She runs to her car and pulls out a spray can. She walks over to the limp, dead rabbit, bends down, and sprays the contents onto the rabbit.

The rabbit jumps up, waves its paw at the two of them and hops off down the road. Ten feet away the rabbit stops, turns around and waves again, he hops down the road another 10 feet, turns and waves, hops another ten feet, turns and waves, and repeats this again and again and again, until he hops out of sight.

The man is astonished. He runs over to the woman and demands, "What is in that can? What did you spray on that rabbit?"

The woman turns the can around so that the man can read the label.

It says...

      (Are you ready for this?)

      (Are you sure?)

      (This is bad!)

      (It's definitely a Blonde Joke!)

(You know you could just click off and not read the punch line....)

      (You can still delete it)

(You know you're gonna be sorry)

      (Last chance)

      (OK, here it is)

It says, "Hair Spray - Restores life to dead hair, and adds permanent wave."

Happy Easter!!!

AIEEEE!!!  MORE GIGGLES!!!  Well, you certainly warned us!

   Thanks, Glenn!

Peter Cottontail

Written by Beatrix Potter

Here comes Peter Cottontail,
Hoppin' down the bunny trail,
Hippity, hoppity,
Easter's on its way.

Bringin' every girl and boy Baskets full of Easter joy,
Things to make your Easter bright and gay.
He's got jelly beans for Tommy,
Colored eggs for sister Sue,
There's an orchid for your Mommy
And an Easter bonnet, too.

Oh! here comes Peter Cottontail,
Hoppin' down the bunny trail,
Hippity hoppity,
Happy Easter day.

Here comes Peter Cottontail,
Hoppin' down the bunny trail,
Look at him stop,
and listen to him say:
"Try to do the things you should."
Maybe if you're extra good,
He'll roll lots of Easter eggs your way.

You'll wake up on Easter morning
And you'll know that he was there
When you find those choc'late bunnies
That he's hiding ev'rywhere.

Oh! here comes Peter Cottontail,
Hoppin' down the bunny trail,
Hippity hoppity,
Happy Easter day.
