Frank William Kanelos II

WILLIAMSBURG - Frank William Kanelos II, 52, passed away on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005, at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Born May 4, 1952, and raised in Newport News, he graduated from Newport News High School in 1970. He attended V.C.U. College from 1971 to 1974. One of Frank's greatest passions was his 25-year career with Anheuser-Busch. He left behind many friends and co-workers after being diagnosed with Scleroderma, with which he fought a brave and courageous battle. Frank was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan, and enjoyed deep sea fishing, snow skiing and playing billiards. Frank was preceded in rest by his father, William Frank Kanelos. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ethel Kanelos of Williamsburg; two sisters, Helen Hollowell of Newport News and Katherine Earhart of Hampton; and his nephew/godson, Walter John Adcock of Chester, Md. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 31, in Riverside-Altmeyer Funeral Home, 7415 River Road, Newport News. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, April 1, in the funeral home by Father George Chioros. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Scleroderma Foundation, 12 Kent Way, Suite 101, Bayfield, MA 01922. Many thanks to the nursing staff and doctors of M.C.V. 5th Floor North Tower involved in Frank's care for their compassion and dedication. A special thanks is extended to Dr. Christopher Wise. We will deeply miss Frank for his compassion and love and devotion to his family and friends. He will be in our hearts forever.

I am Charlie Smith's daughter. I would like to say I am extremely sorry, and my thoughts and prayers are with the family. I loved Frank a whole lot. He used to come over to my dad's house, and he was like a teddy bear. Me and my sister could crawl all over him and he loved it. I would also like to say my dad loved him like his own brother. We will all miss you, Frank.

I heard Frank had passed away form Denise Drummond, and I let Stuart Goodman know. We all remember Frank as a sincere, nice guy. He was always fun to be around and was always upbeat. I had not thought of him in years but his memory brought an instant smile to my face.

I am sorry for your loss. Frank will be missed and he left a good memory with me.

Helen, My thoughts of sympathy go out to you and the family for the passing of your brother. I enjoyed knowing Frank from the Rusty Nail days and it was always fun being with him. For sure he was definitely an Orioles fan. You take care.

In You Rejoice
(O Tebi Radujetsja)

Liturgy of St. Basil - Tone 6

(English adaptation by Edward Sedor)

All creation rejoices in You,
O You who are full of grace,
the host of angels and all mankind.
O holy temple and spiritual paradise,
the glory of virgins,
from whom God was made flesh and became a little Child,
and is our God before all ages.

For He made You womb His throne,
and more spacious than the heavens.
All creation rejoices in You,
O You who are full of grace,
glory to You.
