Born in West Caldwell, NJ, he was the son of the late Henry E. and Hattie King Campbell. An Army veteran of WWII, Jim was awarded the Silver Star for his bravery during the invasion of Normandy at Omaha Beach. He was a life-member of the VFW.

Jim was a "tree surgeon" by trade and retired from the city of Morris Township, NJ, after many years of service.

Jim will be remembered for his love of the outdoors and fishing. He always had a story to share. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will especially remember his love of "telling tales".

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth B. Campbell, a daughter, Georgiana Drake, and son, George R. Fleming.

Family and friends will gather for visitation 3:30 pm, Sunday, March 30, in Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, followed by a prayer service at 4:00 pm, with Fr. Oscar Parsairo, presiding. Burial will take place at a later date in New Jersey.
