We are a varied lot, and many of you will not be celebrating today, but for many of you, today marks the beginning of Holy Week, and even if we're not personally observing the day, our Typhoon Family tries (but does not always succeed) to mark all such occasions:

Hey there, is

of me that I think was in there, so I could send it to another friend
who was in the same unit, but, alas, no luckee. You wouldn’t happen to
be able to retrieve that wouldja? I know, because you’ve nothing else to
do, you’ll jump right on it, right? Seriously ..... |
|||
Well, David Darlin',
I would have jumped on this right away, but your note decided to
"hide" from me!
![]() I noticed this morning that Famous Marines wasn't properly linked, but Famous Soldiers seems fine to me: http://nnhs65.com/SITE-MAP.html http://www.nnhs65.com/famous-soldiers-S-Z.html Here ya

03/24, 03/25, and 03/26/10 - "Famous Marine":
Hi, Carol: Please allow me to nominate ![]() |
|||
This morning, as I began my task of editing the photos posted at the website, Marines-TogetherWeServed.com the attached photo was posted by one of our members who served with Syd Roady of Newport News, VA. The photo was taken in 1969 on Okinawa, before the 7th Marines loaded aboard the USS Tripoli to return to the United States. |

||
1969 - Okinawa | |||
Syd served in the 7th Marine Regiment in Vietnam. He is the brother of ![]() ![]() |
You have his photo in Marine "Utility" uniform in the Staging Battalion in Okinawa. Here is a better photo that might be more suitable for the page, since it has only Syd in the photo... |
![]() |
.... we can salute
his service, better late, than never. The Marines who served in Vietnam
did not have a parade when they returned home. Hand Salute to John S. Roady!!! |
||
TYPHOON Regards, Joe Madagan ('57) of FL "Did not have a parade?!?" Major Madagan, your gift of the understatement never ceases to astonish me.....
Thank you so much!
I've proudly added Syd to our Famous Marines tribute pages - with a thankful heart: |

The poison-arrow frog has enough poison to kill about 2,200 people.
Rarely, but yes.
If you try to
suppress a sneeze, you can rupture a blood vessel in your head or
neck and die.

Sally tells her husband, "Jack,
that young couple that just moved in next door seem such a loving
twosome. Every morning, when he leaves the house, he kisses her
goodbye, and every evening when he comes homes, he brings her a
dozen roses. Now, why can't you do that?"
Jack says, "Why? I hardly know the girl."

The Holy City
Text by
Frederick E. Weatherly, 1892
(1849-1929)
Music by
Michael
Maybrick - a.k.a.
Stephen Adams
(31 Jan 1841 - 26 Aug 1913)
Last night I lay a-sleeping,
there came a dream so fair,
I stood in old Jerusalem beside the temple there.
I heard the children singing and ever as they sang,
Me thought the voice of angels from heaven in answer rang.
Me thought the voice of angels from heaven in answer rang.
Refrain
Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
Lift up your gates and sing,
Hosanna in the highest!
Hosanna to your King!
And then me thought my dream was changed, the streets no longer rang,
Hushed were the glad Hosannas the little children sang.
The sun grew dark with mystery, the morn was cold and chill,
As the shadow of a cross arose upon a lonely hill.
As the shadow of a cross arose upon a lonely hill.
Refrain
Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
Lift up your gates and sing,
Hosanna in the highest!
Hosanna to your King!
And once again the scene was changed; new earth there seemed to be;
I saw the Holy City beside the tideless sea;
The light of God was on its streets, the gates were open wide,
And all who would might enter and no one was denied.
No need of moon or stars by night, or sun to shine by day;
It was the new Jerusalem that would not pass away.
It was the new Jerusalem that would not pass away.
Refrain
Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
Lift up your gates and sing,
Hosanna in the highest!
Hosanna to your King!
Hosanna in the highest!
Hosanna to your King!
