“They say that time heals all wounds but all it’s done so far - Ezbeth Wilder |
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
Today's Newsletter theme is brought
to you once more by My Magic Shower. Having not heard it sing to me since
we moved away from Fayetteville in January, I was afraid it was but one of many
things which I had to leave behind in North Carolina. Imagine my
astonishment yesterday when this 81-year old song came falling out of the shower
head along with the nice warm water!
![]()
Aw, c'mon - I toldja you
had to be crazy to do what I do, didn't I?!?

None of these versions is anything like unto the one My Magic Shower was singing to me, though. It was a slow, low, mournful arrangement, sort of Julie London style.....

From Joyce Lawrence Cahoon ('65) of
VA - 03/24/09 - "You've Been Drinking Again":
You've Been Drinking Again
An Irishman had been drinking at a pub all night. The bartender finally said that the bar was closing. So, the Irishman stood up to leave fell flat on his face. He tried to stand one more time; same result. He figured he'll crawl outside and get some fresh air and maybe that will sober him up. Once outside, he stood up and fell on his face again, so he decided to crawl the four blocks home. Again, he fell flat on his face. He crawled through the door and into his bedroom. When he reached his bed he tried one more time to stand up. This time he managed to pull himself upright, but he quickly fell right into the bed and is sound asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
He was awakened the next morning to his wife standing over him, shouting, "SO YOU'VE BEEN DRINKING AGAIN!"
Putting on an innocent look, and intent on bluffing it out, he said, "What makes you say that?"
"The pub just called; you left your wheelchair there again."
WILD GIGGLES!!!
Thanks, Joyce!

Lover, Come Back to Me
Music by
Sigmund Romberg
(29 July 1887 - 09 Nov 1951)
Lyrics by
Oscar Hammerstein II
(12 July 1895 - 23 Aug 1960)
- from
The New Moon,
1928
You went away
I let you
We broke the ties that bind
I wanted to forget you
And leave the past behind
Still, the magic of the night I met you
Seems to stay forever in my mind
The sky was blue
And high above
The moon was new
And so was love
This eager heart of mine was singing
Lover, where can you be
You came at last
Love had its day
That day is past
You've gone away
This aching heart of mine is singing
Lover, come back to me
When I remember every little thing
You used to do
I'm so lonely
Every road I walk along
I walk along with you
No wonder I am lonely
The sky is blue
The night is cold
The moon is new
But love is old
And while I'm waiting here
This heart of mine is singing
Lover, come back to me
When I remember every little thing
You used to do
I grow lonely
Every road I walk along
I walk along with you
No wonder I am lonely
The sky is blue
The night is cold
The moon is new
But love is old
And while I'm waiting here
This heart of mine is singing
Lover, come back to me
