Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
This Newsletter is a bit (okay, a lot!) shorter than usual, and I still
didn't make many of the promised updates, but I do
have more pictures for you! YEA!!!

A Beary Happy Birthday tomorrow to Olivia House Brickey ('65) of VA! | ||

MORE REUNION IMAGES:
From Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA - 03/07/05:
Thank you, David! I appreciate all the work involved in sending me these images. But it's such fun looking at them all!
From Evelyn Vretos ('55) of VA - 03/22/05:
Dear Carol, What a heartwarming story about your dad - thanks for sharing!! Love, Evelyn Vretos (NNHS'55)
Thank you, Evelyn! The entire thing certainly warmed my heart!
From Gloria Woolard Price (Hampton HS - '65 - of FL) - 03/22/05:
Thanks for adding the
Checkmate! I hope others will write in with their memories there. I
forgot (I do that a lot these days!)
that I worked the door there for a short time in 1971 before my illustrious
career as a waitress at the Zodiac.
Thanks, Gloria! I'd never thought of
that before! For years now, I've been saying "I'm still just a kid", but I
never realized why
that was. Of course, I'm still just a kid! An aging baby
boomer is an oxymoron! That explains everything! Thanks for
elucidating
that for me, Gloria!
I'm glad you
liked the Checkmate page. I'll add the Original Club soon.
Perhaps' the Zodiac, the Monkey's Paw and the
Hullaballoo will follow. I personally never heard of any of them,
including the
Blue Lite Club. There
were a couple such places
on Hampton Avenue in Norfolk that I was known to visit on occasion while I
was going to
Old Dominion,
but I can't recall their
names at the moment - and they're hardly germane to the issue anyway.
Any more club memories??
I added your comments to the Checkmate page:

Rip
Thank you, Rip! There IS some good information in there!
From Jimmy Parker ('62) of VA - 03/23/05:
..... You should remember the fire station because there was a large training tower right beside it.
Yes, Jimmy-Love, I know I should remember it. I should
remember a great many things, but sadly, I don't. But Fire
Station #1 may finally be penetrating the dark veils of my mind. I have
remembered the pale brick color of the whole
thing. If someone could only produce an image of it, my chances would be
greatly improved. One would think that
with all the aerial views of that area that we have now posted, the fire station
would be kind enough to appear in one
of them, but if that's true, I haven't found one yet.
Thanks, Jimmy! I'll keep trying to remember!
Y'all take care of each other! TYPHOONS FOREVER!
Love to all, Carol

A Thousand Stars
Written By: Eugene Pearson
(Kathy Young and
The Innocents)
A thousand stars in the sky like the stars in your eyes
They say to me that there’ll never be
No other love like you-oo for me-e-e
A thousand stars in the sky make me realize
You are the one love that I’ll adore
Tell me you love me
Tell me you’re mine once more (once more, once mo-o-ore)
Each night I count the stars in the sky
Hoping that you aren’t telling me lies
You’re with me tonight, I’m captured by your charms
Oh, pretty baby, won’t you hold me in your arms?
A thousand stars in the sky make me realize
You are the one love that I’ll adore
Tell me you love me
Tell me you’re mine once more (once more, once mo-o-ore)
Each night I count the stars in the sky
Hoping that you aren’t telling me lies
You’re with me tonight, I’m captured by your charms
Oh, pretty baby, won’t you hold me in your arms?
A thousand stars in the sky make me realize
You are the one love that I’ll adore
Tell me you love me
Tell me you’re mine once mo-o-re (I-I-I’m yours)
