From Norm Covert ('61) of MD - 03/15/14 - "Violently Ill":

What is this "violently ill" stuff? I'm sorry it happened apparently when you were out in public trying to show your your youthful charm. Hope you had the chance to keep your dignity. Also trust you are back to good health.
You may be jealous that every time it appears I'm not getting enough attention, I have one of "those" episodes, like AFibs, strokes, or something scary like that. My latest "episode," two weeks ago wrecked my makeup, because my face drooped so much the mascara ran and the pancake leaking Aunt Jemima syrup. But that's all gone now and despite the need for makeup at this advanced age, I can say my grandchildren always overlook any faults.
I cannot forget the sage advice from our ever so demure         Sepi "Dimples" Prichard (Miz Scawlett) ('58) of NC, who recalled attending an outdoor concert last summer. When she and her fetching sailor  Reuben parked the car the rains came, drenching Raleigh and environs. He comment on missing the musical magic? "What a waste of makeup!" That's our girl Dimples/ Advice worthy of our attention.
If you must be ill, remember George Washington's advice, "If you cough, sneeze or yawn, do it not loud, but privately." I failed that in January, suffering whiplash from one of my sneezes. See, I just love nurses.
Norm Covert ('61) of MD

HA-HA-HA! Thank you, Normie! I'm so sorry to hear that you've been ill again, but glad to know that you're recovering!

There's nothing seriously wrong with me; I've been subject to these "exciting" attacks at least since I was in college. They're uncomfortable when I'm home, but totally humiliating when I'm out in public - as I usually am when they hit. I start getting woozy and my face turns a pasty white. As my dizziness increases, things begin to swirl and change color, and if I'm really going to lose it, the world becomes black and white just before I clunk to the ground. These spells  usually go away after an hour or two, but this one refuses to completely leave, and my thinking is still muddled. I think their sole purpose is to make me feel like an idiot, which they unfailingly do!

Thank you again, Normie! I was really touched by your concern! Take good care of yourself!

From My Daughter of Other Parents, Megan Fulmer Mansfield (Marshall HS, TX - 2002) of TX - 03/15/14:

One month old! Growing too fast already.

AWW! She's so cute! Thank you, Megan; we really miss y'all!

This is the perfect free crochet pattern you should be making for the hot summer season. The yarn is nice and light so it will keep you cool." - Well, it's not calling MY name, but that's probably only because I don't bear much resemblance to this adorable young model (I think that might be Doris Chan herself)! - Petra Monaco's Shamrock and Leprechaun - "Using a free crochet St. Patrick's day pattern is great for this holiday. Get in the spirit and become Irish for a day. This leprechaun and shamrock are great to hang from the rear view mirror of your car. You might also want to sew it to a bag or piece of clothing for a nice embellishment." -

Oh, it's so comforting!" - Irish Potatoes - "Okay, okay, no self-respecting St. Patrick's Day corned beef would be complete without the crunch and taste of cabbage! Well, we've just made it partners with our mashed potatoes, so now we've got an old favorite that's traditionally called Champs, but it's got a modern twist!" - St. Patrick's Day Special - "Heard of the blue plate special? Well, this meal is the St. Patrick's Day special. And we have it every year in Chicago 'cause we spend every St. Patrick's Day there, marching in the parade and enjoying the great food and festivities!"

Bridgit O’Malley

Oh Bridgit O’Malley, you left my heart shaken
With a hopeless desolation, I’d have you to know
It’s the wonders of admiration your quiet face has taken
And your beauty will haunt me wherever I go.

The white moon above the pale sands, the pale stars above the thorn tree
Are cold beside my darling, but no purer than she
I gaze upon the cold moon till the stars drown in the warm sea
And the bright eyes of my darling are never on me.

My Sunday it is weary, my Sunday it is grey now
My heart is a cold thing, my heart is a stone
All joy is dead within me, my life has gone away now
For another has taken my love for his own.

The day it is approaching when we were to be married
And it’s rather I would die than live only to grieve
Oh meet me, my Darling, e’er the sun sets o’er the barley
And I’ll meet you there on the road to Drumslieve.

Oh Bridgit O’Malley, you’ve left my heart shaken
With a hopeless desolation, I’d have you to know
It’s the wonders of admiration your quiet face has taken
And your beauty will haunt me wherever I go.
