Dear
Friends and Schoolmates,
We have another sad Memorial Edition of the NNHS Newsletter this Sunday morning.
Ted Schanzer, father of
Helene Schanzer Willis ('69) of CA and Eric Schanzer of VA, passed away in
Newport News on Wednesday,
March 10, 2011 at the age of 92.
May his memory be for a blessing always.
The Schanzers were our neighbors in the Stuart Homes Apartments when we first moved to Newport News in 1954, and I remember them fondly. I'm so sorry to learn of Mr. Schanzer's death.

March 13, 2011 Eric, I am so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. ~
Diane (Ultrasound) March 13, 2011
To the Schanzer family, I send
you my condolences for your loss. The good man Job in the Bible once asked
this question. "If an able-bodied man dies, can he live again? Notice the
answer in verse 15. Job said, "You will call, and I myself shall answer you.
"For the work of your hands you will have a yearning. Yes, Job knew that his
loving heavenly father desires life for all of his servants, and that if he
died, Job knew that God would restore his life back to him. So we can have
the same wonderful hope of knowing that God will bring our loved ones back
to life. With God, all things are possible. May that wonderful hope bring
joy to your hearts, and help you to endure in the days ahead.

May God wrap his loving arms
around you, Eric, in this difficult time.

For the family of Ted my
condolences for your loss. I had the privilege of working with Ted at
Sears. He was a true gentleman and respected by all his fellow
coworkers....

Eric, we loved your dad. We
will miss his smile and outgoing ways. He was a blessing to all who knew
him. We are in California, but we are thinking of you.

I am truly sorry to hear of
Ted's passing! My mother (Carrie Ragland) worked for him when he managed
the Kay Bee Clothing Store in the early 60's until she had a stroke. She
always looked forward to the many visits Ted would make to our house
prior to her death and greatly appreciated his friendship. After Ted
joined the Sear's Team we would often meet for a few minutes to catch up
on the old days! Your dad was a true gentleman and will be missed by
many. I have only seen Ted once since moving to Colorado in 1977, but
spent several hours during that trip to Virginia over coffee and old
times. May God be with him and your family during this great time of
sadness.

DEAR ERIC, HELENE, EVERETT,
MYRNA, AND OTHER RELATIVES AND DEAR FRIENDS OF TED, AT THIS VERY SAD
TIME MY MOM AND I OFFER YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHIES
AND REALIZE THAT THOUGH YOUR DAD AND LOVING RELATIVE AND FRIEND LIVED A
LONG AND FULL LIFE, THERE IS STILL A VOID IN ALL OF YOUR HEARTS. ERIC,
THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT YOUR DAD LIVED THE QUALITY KIND OF
LIFE IN HIS LAST YEARS DUE TO YOUR DEVOTION AND SPECIAL CARE WHICH YOU
PROVIDED FOR HIM. YOU ARE THE REASON FOR HIS LIVING AS LONG AS HE DID
AND YOUR EXAMPLE IS ONE THAT SHOULD BE FOLLOWED BY ALL OF US WHO ARE
SONS AND DAUGHTERS. MAY HIS MEMORY ALWAYS BE FOR A BLESSING AND MAY YOU
FIND PEACE AND COMFORT KNOWING THAT YOU GAVE YOUR DAD THE VERY BEST THAT
YOU HAD. ERIC YOU ARE A TREASURED FRIEND TO ME AND TO SO MANY. WARMLY,
ED

Dear Eric--I was involved in
Mr. Schanzer's care. He was a sweet, caring and funny man; we always
found ourselves immersed in interesting conversation. I thoroughly
enjoyed taking care of him, and am saddened to hear of his passing. My
good thoughts go out to you.
