“I'm always without sleep. I've got two kids. I understand |
|
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
In case you
didn't notice,
you lost an hour's
sleep last night, and you're gonna spend the next six to eight weeks trying to acclimate your
mind, soul, and body to the whole nastiness.....
Knowing I was going to lose an hour's sleep put me in a bad frame of mind, and I couldn't fall asleep. Knowing I had to awake at o-dark-thirty left me sleeping fitfully, and I awoke twenty minutes before my alarm sounded at 5:30. I think I may have only had three-and-a-half hours sleep, but I'm not sure.

Back in 1955,
my daddy, the late
Robert Buckley (John Marshall HS - '25)
(19 Oct 1907 - 25 Apr 1960)
brought home a delightfully funny 45 record.
Some of the early lines of the lyrics came forcefully to my mind this morning:
"I
always did hate like the dickens,
When I had to get up with the chickens,
I'm a guy that really likes his sleep."

Carol, I just went to your NNHS website for the first time in a while, and saw the announcement of ![]() During that first year that he was in my class, in a discussion of everyone's "past life" someone asked me where I was from, and when I said Newport News, Bryan revealed that he was in fact from NN, and we talked (in French) about his mom being in my sister's class, and about how he had come to be in Baton Rouge. Small world, and I am so sorry to hear that his Mom, Andy, had passed away, and now his grandmother, too.
Do you know by chance where I could send a card to Bryan?
Thanks,
