Your dad seemed in good spirits when I waited on him about a month ago. Just take comfort in your memories that you shared until you see them both again. |

I guess Tommy and I were friends
for life. I too was born in Phoebus the same day and year that Tommy was
born. I grew up on Curry Street. Our last reunion Tommy stopped off to our
room and we reminiscenced our growing up. We were really sad to hear the passing of Tommy and we send our sympathies for Kitty and the Family |

God gives us each a gift of life To cherish from our birth. He gives us friends and those we love To share our days on Earth. He watches us with loving care And takes us by the hand, He blesses us with countless joys And guides the lives we’ve planned. Then, when our work on Earth is done, He calls us to His side, To live with Him in happiness Where peace and love abide. Arline Walton Silverthorn HHS Class of 58 |

Nearer My God to Thee
Words: Sarah F. Adams, 1805-1848
Music: Lowell Mason, 1792-1872
1. Nearer, my God, to thee, nearer
to thee!
E'en though it be a cross that raiseth me,
still all my song shall be,
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
2. Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down,
darkness be over me, my rest a stone;
yet in my dreams I'd be
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
3. There let the way appear, steps unto heaven;
all that thou sendest me, in mercy given;
angels to beckon me
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
4. Then, with my waking thoughts bright with thy praise,
out of my stony griefs Bethel I'll raise;
so by my woes to be
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
5. Or if, on joyful wing cleaving the sky,
sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I fly,
still all my song shall be,
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
