Take care, my friend and thank you for all you do.

   Thank you so much for catching this, Fred.   I can only imagine one way I missed it. The Daily Press must have added this to their postings after I had already finished reading the obituaries.

I met Doug when I was appointed Treasurer of Lunenburg County in 1990. He was a great person. I always enjoyed chatting with him. Thinking of you all. Betsy Newcomb Long

Doug was a wonderful friend and neighbor. He loved being outdoors working in his yard, and always took the time to stop and chat. He was quick with a smile, generous with his time, and he could always make me laugh.

To Doug's son, Doug Jr., and his daughter-in-law, Eileen Brown, may you take comfort in knowing your father was a good man and he will be missed.

Amazing Grace

Words by John Newton, 1779
(24 July 1725 – 21 Dec 1807)

 Amazing grace! (how sweet the sound)
That sav'd a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears reliev'd;
How precious did that grace appear,
The hour I first believ'd!

Thro' many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promis'd good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease;
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who call'd me here below,
Will be forever mine.
