the right functional relationship to society --
more briefly, to find your real job, and do it.

From Me ('65) of IL - 03/03/10 - "Broken Links":

It will be quite some time before I've located and corrected all the thousands (literally!) of non-functioning links.  Meanwhile, when you reach one which contains the characters ".00freehost", simply click on it, then delete those letters from the URL bar, and hit "Enter". That should work. Thanks!

From Jacque Ray Fisher ('66) of NC - 02/28/10 - "New email address":

Hi Carol,

Jacque Fisher here with a change of email address.

THANKS - take care and stay warm!

Thanks, Jacque! I have you all switched now! Let me know if you want it posted; otherwise, I'll keep it private!

    From Joan Lauterbach Krause ('60) of VA - 03/01/10 - "Today's Mail":

Good Evening All.

I wanted to share a little bit of TRIVA for today’s laugh.

Today’s mail brought an envelope address to
R.H. Krause (who was my husband, Dick - '57) (05 Feb 1938 - 27 Dec 1999) at my current address. Please keep in mind Dick never lived at this address. The content of the envelope is a survey for the Peninsula Memorial Park, a local cemetery. Currently, I am planning on completing the survey mailing it back to them, along with the envelope addressed to Dick and a note referring them to his current address. This address happens to be in their park. LOL Scott and I have laughed. This is too funny. Dick’s only been gone for 10 years. They pull the weeds from around him at least twice a year. Hello here.

Thought you would enjoy this chuckle.

That's priceless, Joan! Thanks for sharing this with us!

From Renee Helterbran Benton ('59) of VA - 03/02/10 - "Cleaning Service for Chemo Patients":

Sure wish I had known about this when I was going through Chemo -- and I certainly hope I am never in need of it again.  Hopefully, it will help someone else.

Pass this word along!  Send it to your family, your friends, and your coworkers -- you never know when the mom of a friend, a sister of a friend, or a friend of a friend is going through cancer treatment!

Cleaning for a Reason

If you know any woman currently undergoing Chemo, please pass the word to her that there is a cleaning service that provides FREE housecleaning - one time per month for four months while she is in treatment.  All she has to do is sign up and have her doctor fax a note confirming the treatment. Cleaning for a Reason will have a participating maid service in her zip code area arrange for the service.

WOWZERS! What a truly wonderful service! Thank you so much for sharing this invaluable information with us, Renee!

From Gary Sealey of VA - 03/01/10 - "go to":

Hi Everyone,

If you have a chance, please take a minute to go to the NEWLY updated website (developed by Jerry and my students in the KEY Club and Entrepreneur Club at Menchville High) - . The newly formed MHS Key Club brought some very talented and gifted student website designers and graphic artists. They've upgraded it with Flash in a different format... it's still being updated and improved... with many new ideas being added daily... but the Flash makes it very impressive to the viewer... a much more professional appearance than previous.... thanks

Thanks to all of you for your support of our club members who have developed the non-profit foundation to support the malnourished children of Sipalay as an on-going service project. Please continue to Pray for their improved health and for the club members who are extremely excited.

God Bless everyone for your support of these kids.

p.s. The student website the "E" Club developed 3 years ago - - is still being updated quarterly.

MORE WOWZERS! These sites are BOTH impressive, Gary! Thanks for sharing this with us - and best wishes to you and your students in your endeavors!

From David Whitley ('67) of VA - 03/01/10 - "Worms":

4 Worms Church Sermon!

For those of you who missed church on Sunday, here is a recap!

Four worms and a lesson to be learned!!!!

A minister decided that a visual demonstration would add emphasis to his Sunday sermon.

Four worms were placed into four separate jars.

The first worm was put into a container of alcohol.

The second worm was put into a container of cigarette smoke.

The third worm was put into a container of chocolate syrup.

The fourth worm was put into a container of good clean soil.

At the conclusion of the sermon, the Minister reported the following results:

The first worm in alcohol

The second worm in cigarette smoke
 - Dead

Third worm in chocolate syrup
 - Dead

Fourth worm in good clean soil - Alive.

So the Minister asked the congregation -

What did you learn from this demonstration???

Maxine sitting in the back, quickly raised her hand and said,

'As long as you drink, smoke and eat chocolate, you won't have worms!'

That pretty much ended the service.

   Thanks, Gorgeous!

From Judy Phillips Allen ('66) of VA - 02/18/10 - "Panda Therapy (#6 in a Series of 19)":

I love these Panda emails!  I hope you get the "warm fuzzies", too!

Is it any wonder the world has fallen in love with these animals?

   Yes, I do! Thanks, Judy!

 Betcha can't see me.....

Crazy News Tidbit

Anxious to 'include' as many minorities, religions and disabilities as possible, the human resources department of the University of Alberta has put up a Braille poster outside its main office. The poster has been placed inside a display case with a glass front.

[This is brought to you by the same geniuses who put Braille instructions on the drive up window at the bank.]

Back in the Saddle Again

Co-written by Gene Autry (29 Sept 1907 - 02 Oct 1998) and Ray Whitley (05 Dec 1901 - 21 Feb 1979), 1939

I'm back in the saddle again
Out where a friend is a friend
Where the longhorn cattle feed
On the lowly gypsum weed
Back in the saddle again

Ridin' the range once more
Totin' my old .44
Where you sleep out every night
And the only law is right
Back in the saddle again

Rockin' to and fro
Back in the saddle again
I go my way
Back in the saddle again

I'm back in the saddle again
Out where a friend is a friend
Where the longhorn cattle feed
On the lowly gypsum weed
Back in the saddle again

Ridin' the range once more
Totin' my old .44
Where you sleep out every night
And the only law is right
Back in the saddle again

Rockin' to and fro
Back in the saddle again
I go my way
Back in the saddle again
