That Love is all there is,
Is all we know of Love.
It is enough, the freight should be
Proportioned to the groove."

- Emily Dickinson

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

We're about to run out of February, but we'll never run out of love songs, and I've saved one of my own personal Beatles' love songs for today.

       From Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA - 02/25/09 - "RE: 02/25/09 - A Kiss from a Rose":

So,         (David) Whitley ('67 - of VA) wants to start up with the blonde jokes, eh? OK, here is mine.

A blonde enters a drug store and walks slowly up and down all the aisles, looking at all the shelves.

The clerk notices this and asks her if he can be of assistance. She tells him that she is looking for rectal deodorant.

The clerk says that he has never heard of such a product and asks her to describe it.

"Well," she replies, "I can't remember the shape or color of the container, but I clearly remember that the directions say, 'Push Up Bottom'".

EEWWWW!!! Thank you, David - I think!

2.   From Ron Miller ('59) of NC - 02/25/09, 8:48 PM - "Good and Plenty":

You've probably had several answers by now about the "Good and Plenty" train commercial. That was "Choo Choo Charlie" singing, and here is the original on YouTube:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExSlyoVTX3I

And here are the words:

Once upon a time there was an engineer
Choo Choo Charlie was his name, we hear.
He had an engine and he sure had fun
He used GOOD & PLENTY candy to make his train run.
Charlie says "Love my GOOD & PLENTY!"
Charlie says "Really rings my bell!"
Charlie says "Love my GOOD & PLENTY!"
Don't know any other candy that I love so well!

3.         From Sydney Dearing ('56) of TN - 02/25/09, 9:22 PM - "Good and Plenty commercial":

Hi Carol,

In the '50s, Good and Plenty had a commercial that featured a train and Choo Choo Charlie.  Go to You Tube and type "good and plenty commercial" and it is the first hit that comes up.

TA-DAH!!! Well, there ya go, Linda May! Thank you all, Gentlemen!
I knew you could do it!

FINALLY:

From Mark Hutcherson ('66) of VA - 02/24/09 - "'Bo' the Dog":

This would be funny if it weren't so true!!!

My father-in-law had prostate surgery. We brought him to the hospital at 7:30 a.m., and he was operated on at eight. We were amazed when
the hospital called at noon to tell us he could go home.

Two months later our beagle, Bo, also had prostate surgery.  When I brought him in, I asked the veterinarian what time I should pick him up. The vet told me Bo would remain overnight.

"Overnight?"  I said. "My father-in-law came home the same day."

The vet looked at me and said, "Bo's not on Medicare!"

   GIGGLES! Thanks, Mark!

Mainly written by Paul McCartney
(b. 18 June 1942)

The Beatles, 1965

Michelle, ma belle.
These are words that go together well,
My Michelle.

Michelle, ma belle.
Sont des mots qui vont très bien ensemble,
Très bien ensemble.

I love you, I love you, I love you.
That's all I want to say.
Until I find a way
I will say the only words I know that
You'll understand.

Michelle, ma belle.
Sont des mots qui vont très bien ensemble,
Très bien ensemble.

I need to, I need to, I need to.
I need to make you see,
Oh, what you mean to me.
Until I do I'm hoping you will
Know what I mean.

I love you...

I want you, I want you, I want you.
I think you know by now
I'll get to you somehow.
Until I do I'm telling you so
You'll understand.

Michelle, ma belle.
Sont des mots qui vont très bien ensemble,
Très bien ensemble.

I will say the only words I know that
You'll understand, my Michelle.
