  Ruth with her two grandsons

February 20, 2014

I can remember sitting by the tv listening to Santa updates and awaiting the opening of presents on Christmas eve at Mamaw Scott's house as a child. Another memory I have is the anticipation of another summer trip to White Lake NC. I imagine Scott and I were at times, challenging for Ruth. Ruth was a surrogate grandmother to me at times and she also was the first to introduce me to Bob Marley. Robin and I are very sorry for your loss Donnie. Please know you are in our thoughts.

To Donnie and your entire family, I send my sincere sympathy. I did go with Cookie to visit Ruth when she was at the Hidenwood. We recalled her fierce defense and cheering during Donnie's baseball days. From elementary school we all knew she was number one mama bear. Ruth certainly was devoted to Donnie. Hopefully memories will bring comfort.

Donnie, Those of us in the Typhoon family are saddened to hear of your mother's passing. Mothers are special, they teach us the really important things like manners and humility. As we see things, she taught you well. She will be missed but never forgotten. Thank God for fond memories and lessons learned.

Donnie, you were my best friend starting in the 7th grade through high school. Your mom took me in as a second kid; don't have any idea how many meals and snacks I ate at your house. I thought the world of her and Bennie. I know you will miss her; she was a best mom. Judy and I will be praying for you and your family during this time. Alan and Judy Nesbitt

Donnie we are very sad to hear of your mom passing. Starting in 7th grade through high school you were my best bud. We shared many experiences, most good and a few that I will never forget. I couldn't tell you how many times your mom looked after me. If I was ever there at meal time, she always set another plate. She also was a part time mom to me. She was truly a special lady. I will always think of her and her impact on my life. We are still best buds. Take care and I hope to see you soon.

Donnie, so sorry for your loss. I have lots of good memories of Ruth, many trips to the beach; we always would laugh and have the best time, and at the beauty shop.

Morning Has Broken

Words: Eleanor Farjeon
Music: Traditional Gaelic

1. Morning has broken like the first morning;
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird.
Praise for the singing! Praise for the morning!
Praise for them springing fresh from the Word!

2. Sweet the rain's new fall sunlit from heaven,
Like the first dewfall on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden,
Sprung in completeness where His feet pass.

3. Mine is the sunlight! Mine is the morning,
Born of the one light Eden saw play!
Praise with elation; praise ev'ry morning,
God's recreation of the new day!
